vale9001 Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 (edited) very average reviews (once it comes in america will end with 65 around on metacritic) but seems perfect for The Oscars. Cooper performance is not that celebrated (the performance really celebrated is the one from Mulligan). I think Cillian Murphy and Colman Domingo stay as the favourites in the best actor category for now. Edited September 2, 2023 by vale9001

Hector Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Just saw the movie at the New York Film Festival. Bradley was absolutely transformative and marvelous, so many incredible moments filled with nuance and dexterity. He would be very deserving of a "career Oscar" with this. The direction and the cinematography were remarkable. And Carey Mulligan was magnificent. I definitely see her getting the Oscar nomination with this, showing the full range of her talents both with subtlety and passion. And her final scenes were so heartbreaking yet lovely to watch. Love that they ended the movie with moments of euphoria. The music and sound were mixed in impeccably in the David Geffen Hall theater I was in. It says a lot that a magnificent film like this is only my 4th favorite I've seen at the festival so far behind All Of Us Strangers, Poor Things, and Strange Way Of Life (though ahead of May December). I hope this movie will get plenty of nominations though I'm not sure director will happen as the field is way too competitive this year.

Lil Mxnster Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 The trailer gave me chills, holy sh*t! I hope Bradley gets finally his deserved OSCAR, whether it's for acting or directing.
vale9001 Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 I was expecting for this to be mid but this is actually really really bad. I think now It's out and people can see It all the pr machine around Cooper will have less effect cause really in a year that has been as never before full of very great movies about gay experiences seeing Academy recognition for this and nothing for them would embarassing.
Abracadabra Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Both Bradley and Carey gave Oscar worthy performances in this, they were really fantastic. 1
harwee Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 (edited) Its impressive and ambitious piece of work, and very committed performances from both Mulligan and Cooper. The focus of the story is more nuanced than I expected, and somewhat a bit safe. But still fantastic. The ending is a nice touch, with Felicia’s close up and then turning her back to the camera. So I can see what he’s trying to say and focus on here, the reluctant-woman-behind-the-man theme. Bradley is now 2 out of 2 as actor director. He’s definitely getting nominated as well as Mulligan.
