I'll give the album a listen cuz she is an exciting new talent. I get the drag queen gay appropriation drama and i wish she didnt have to resort to that to attract attention and be successful. Like good luck babe is amazing i would love to see kayleigh sing it. Same goes with lady gaga. Stefani was great on her own. New exciting voice, im torn between her, boone and carpenter for best new artist. Carpenter took a long time to get that success. And boone and roan are just pure vocal talents and have huge stage presence. Carpenter writes great songs full of personality and quotable lines. Oh gosh...

Appropriation? She's a queer lesbian woman who is, obviously, immersed in gay culture and is inspired by it. It seems like anything but disingenuous. You can tell she's having fun with it. She's giving us over-the-top, camp pop star realness and we haven't seen that since the post-Gaga era.

Okay I'm late but I gave this a shot and omg :jonny5:not only is this album fun and well written but she has a great voice. She has the ability to be a defining artist of our generation. I was hesitant with the Gaga comparisons but now I think they are apt

Naked in Manhattan is TOO GOOD :jonny3::jonny4:

Defos not in 2 weeks, but a #1 peak is certainly not out of the question. I would love for her to get it at some point soon. Taylor is still going very strongly though, and I think some of her newer-edition numbers haven't been shipped yet so haven't even been counted yet (I believe that's how the BB200 works right?) so we'll see. Given the trajectory of her numbers the last few weeks, there's no doubt she'll rise again next week anyway (maybe even to #2 - Gracie won't keep that spot for long and the difference between her and Grace is only about 25k units) and hopefully she'll snag at least one week at #1 in the neat future before other major releases come along later in the year and dim her chances of that happening.

Don't really like the Gaga comparisons, she's pretty different than her

in looks not much different, in music much different. chappell is showing more range in genres and lyrical skills than gaga

i actually think her ballads/slow songs are what set her apart from everyone else in the industry right now. even though she has peers like olivia/billie/sabrina who also excel in ballads, i think hers are just different and brillant. i like that side of chappell way more than the bubblegum pop

this album wouldn't be so stellar without those songs.

I agree with Chappell showing more range

And that's an interesting take, most would say her upbeat music is what is making her population and not her ballads. Which songs you think are the "bubblegum pop" for Chappell?

Time for her to release MKIK as a single (again) and knock that puta out of the top spot :khalyan2: or give us a deluxe

I agree, her bops are great, but her ballads are STELLAR :jonny4: she's got such a dynamic voice and knows how to utilize it. Like my mind was instantly fixated on Casual and Coffee when I first listened to the album, while it took me a tiny bit more to get into songs like Hot To Go or Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl

You think Taylor is gonna let her snatch #1 before she hits the all-time record?

the best week to strike (for both GLB on H100 and the album on B200) is definitely the week where she plays Lollapalooza imo

How come every time a female popstar rises to the top she's white and how come her music is always ass? Am I supposed to buy that this generic pop music is good? Or pretend that is it because it's doing well?
