Due to her lack of talent and international appeal, Atlantic would rather invest in the more talented Lizzo (as they stated in their variety interview). Cardi unfortunately no longer has the budget or radio payola to buy her way to the top. Cardi is a failed investment, brings in no revenue to the label and no longer has Atlantic’s payola backing her up. Which is why her sophomore album is also shelved.
