The “lesser” one is filling stadiums (with ridiculously expensive ticket prices mind you) while the other struggles to sell out a single Vegas theater. if you want to bring in Hot 100 points, the “lesser” one has multiple solo hits in the Biden administration while the other hasn’t seen the top 10 in over half a decade - two presidents ago. the “lesser” one of them can snag a #1 album with no music videos, have every song chart, outdo the other’s first-week sales on a nearly 7:1 scale (332k vs 50k, also more than any other of Katy’s first week sales), and have said album chart for more than a month. 

 

we could bring in more subjective areas like reviews, year end lists, and awards, but the numbers alone say enough.

I still think she could have a huge hit again, but maybe not a full on successful era, but streaming has changed the game a lot. I don't think public interest is so tied to momentum anymore. 

 

She has the looks and her voice is made for that sweet spot of pop music. It'll be up to her and her team, and of course finding the right time, which is also sometimes tied to luck.

She flopped bc she was a general public artist, not a fanbase driven one. As soon as the people stopped liking her music, she was gone by default, bc there wasn't many people left to hold her back. Katy was dumb to not capitalize on growing a loyal base

 

On top of that she also stopped working with her then main producer, and seems like her formula didn't worked as well with other teams.

Well she did that and worked with Max Martin, Shellback, Sia and Stargate but still flopped
