Like WHAT did Madame Ciccone ever personally do to Ms. Allison Swift?

What?

Show her nothing but love and support. I say that as a major Swiftie as well. Madonna has been a supporter of Taylor for a hot minute, and Taylor has openly discussed her love and respect for Madonna.

And Midnights was the 2nd biggest album of 2022 globally with only two months of sale.

Only because of the U.S. And the album was extremely frontloaded. COADF spent three years on European year-end charts.

Midnights was very global and not frontloaded at all. It will likely make the top 5 this year too.

Love Tay but Confessions obvi.

The actual Midnights album doesn't feel that big. Now the tour... that's something else. The Eras Tour is her Blond Ambition, so that's an easy choice.

But as far as records go, Midnights and Confessions feel equally as "big."

Confessions is bigger and better.

I have to laugh at people thinking Midnights is risky.

I know its cliche but you guys just had to be there for confessions

It was MASSIVE! The tour alone had more cultural impact than anything on Midnights

Despite its big numbers Midnights has very little impact outside of her fanbase

Say what you want about which album is bigger, but in no universe is 'Midnights' better than 'COADF'. To see users here call Madonna safe when Taylor retreated from her experimental voyages ('Folklore', 'Evermore') to release a vanilla pop concoction of 1989, Reputation, and Lover to receive far more success is the epitome of clownery. What happened to self awareness :rip:

For example Anti Hero is a much riskier lead single than Hung Up which is based in a foolproof that would always succeed in Europe.

:rip: Does it hurt to read what you write before posting it? Imagine releasing an ABBA-sampled 1970s disco-pop song in the middle of 2005, a year dominated by Rn'B, urban, and alternative rock music in the charts and radio, and having Swifties (of ALL fandoms, gimme a break :bibliahh:) calling it "sAfE" in defense of a generic pop song that has self-deprecating and relatable lyrics to obviously hit home for the young generation (the virality of "it's me...Hi! I'm the problem, it's me") which is literally the textbook definition of playing safe. It's a smart tactic, and I respect her clever marketing but Anti-Hero is in no way a risk for Taylor Swift. Take a risk by adventuring into a Google search and see if any of the top songs in 2005 are sonically twinning with 'Hung Up'.

Midnights had virtually no major competitors.

COADF is way ahead of Midnights quality-wise. It was very acclaimed in the 2000s when poptism wasn’t a thing and music critics had a very snobbish attitude toward pop singers. Midnights was a very lazy effort.

Ate up and left no crumbs :clap3:

@Blackout2006

They also leave out the part where Madonna was FORTY SEVEN when Confessions was released and she had a LOT of airplay like Taylor did at 34 right?

Right?

47 and three decades into her career. There are many artists who have broken the glass ceiling of losing success in their 30s, but the true challenge comes when you're in your 40s. Madonna managed to release one of her biggest songs of all time, sell 4 million copies of her album in its first week, one of the best-selling albums of that year (two months of tracking), and the highest-grossing female tour at that time. It's sad to see younger stans like the Swifties dismiss the records broken by legends like Madonna, for younger female artists like Taylor to enjoy the success they see today. It's saddening if you ask me.

So will Taylor at the age of 47 sell as much as she did in her 30s?

Will she be seeing the same numbers as she did when she was 30s (Folklore, Evermore, Midnights....)?

According to her fanbase, Taylor will has surpassed 1 billion albums sales.  That's how streaming works these days.

COADF is a cult classic, very ahead of it's time, remain timeless, fresh and it's impact will outlive us all.
