Dear Reader Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 oh wow she really sounds good! I’m kind of in love with her heavenly vocals on the chorus
SpaceOddity Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 She needed an old school Mariah/Whitney ballad sound for her debut as opposed to this but it's still beautiful and her vocals killed. 1
ugo Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 (edited) I love visuals but not the song although she sounds amazing Edited August 4, 2023 by ugo
KatyPrismSpirit Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 her and her sisters inability to make good solo music is so weird. especially since ungodly hour was so good. they always over-extend the vocal production to the point it becomes annoying to listen to.
OnMyCoolJ Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 This is a cute album track, but def not a solo era introduction song. Halle hun
Troll Idle Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 This is actually really good and better than everything her sister released so far.
Kh-Loud Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 It’s very cute, but her and Chloe need to just get back together cuz their music together is just alot more superior to their solo stuff!
Nashe Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 This as an introduction ???? she's insane. This is amazing !!!! so refreshing to hear and see something like this in today's mainstream music landscape. Serving heavenly vocals, melodies and class! Yass girl, go on !!!
cockatoo Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 This is really good, idk what some of you are talking about
alp Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 it’s so good i didnt expect her to go this hard vocally on her debut song but SHE ******* DID THAT

Virgos Groove Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Yeah, this is not my cup of tea. Can we skip to The Emancipation of Chloe x Halle, pls?
mrpartyrocker Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 I will never understand why she and Chloe are over doing the songs with these vocals to the point it’s not listenable… like you can showcase your vocals in many other ways, but at least make your songs listenable this is not broadway, you’re aiming for commercial success.
Mr. Specialist Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Comparing Halle & Chloe needs to stop. Uplifting one sister while tearing the other down needs to stop. It is ridiculous. They are two completely different solo artists. Anyways, I love Halle’s song and the music video. It’s the perfect follow up after all the backlash she received, mainly from white people, for playing the role of Ariel. The message in Halle’s song is empowering and needed. Go Halle! 5
Armani? Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Not what I was expecting but it's cute. Won't perform like a lead single though
BnPac Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 She sounds amazing. I think it’s a cool introduction of what she is or wants to be as an artist. ------- How can you need to compare female artists so much that even blood relatives are not exempt? 1
Devin Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 1. This is good asf 2. Some of y’all being so critical and once again putting another girl into a box of what y’all want her to be. Thought y’all learned this from Chlöe smh. 3. Y’all needa STOP comparing sisters, this clearly shows they have 2 different sounds/directions in music. 1
BOOMBAYAH Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 I really like it! A little bit weak for a lead but still a good song.

If you know her tastes, she’s more into the indie/alt sound. I don’t see her doing 90s power ballads or strong RnB sounds. Her sound is more akin to SZA with more indie/rock elements. 1
Redporus Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 I loved it upon first listen(which is rare). The message, production and vocals are great! I don’t think she is going for commercial success at all with this song and I completely dig it. It feels like an introduction to her as a solo artists who will walk in her own line and not try to fit the mold of anyone else. Therefore, she is giving the essence of an artist and not a label puppet. The video is cute, visually and artistically weak though. Her beauty definitely saved it.

I hear that, my comment was coming from a commercial angle about launching her and getting the general public to engage with the debut single. She went viral for being an insanely good vocalist numerous times throughout the entire Little Mermaid promotional campaign so it would make sense to maybe capitalize on that with something more easy-listening that'd appease to all ages and demographics. It would've paved the way better for an album instead of this strongly Americanized alt-rnb sound. But again, I'm only saying that in case they're hoping for a hit, maybe they're not which I respect.

Plus, there's definitely space for someone fresh to take over the ballad-esque Celine/Adele/Mariah/ lane nowadays, she seems like the perfect fit to me.
Kristie Kuwa Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 I feel like they both tend to take themselves too seriously. There's nothing youthful or light about their projects, which makes it very hard to get into them. Its also the reason why their best bops remain Do It and Ungodly Hour
