Is Margot Robbie officially a box office elixir now?

Recommended Posts

Last year was brutal for her in terms of box office performance. Amsterdam and Babylon ended up being monstrous box office BOMBS. Everyone was looking forward to Barbie’s numbers. It really was a make it or break it movie for Margot. Now, when Barbie’s smashing records, is it safe to say Margot is a box office elixir?

One movie doesn't make you suddenly box office elixier.

Let's see first how her next movie is doing :gaycat:

Not really. The Barbie brand itself and the creative marketing carried

plus

Margot was never the problem, it was the projects she was picking. Margot is an incredibly talented actress and frequently the best part of the bad movies she kept finding herself in. All it took was finding a good script for people to be reminded why she got so famous to begin with. If she keeps picking good scripts, the good fortune will continue.

This. She was basically trying to chase that Oscar last year and picked bad projects. The irony is now is Barbie is in the Oscar discourse lol

She been a star for like over half a decade now:dies:

also Barbie was a hit because it was marketed as the biggest event film this year for the past 6 months. People were gonna go see it regardless of the main lead. Box office poison & elixer are just made up terms. Every major actor/actress has flips and hits🤷‍♀️

people don’t go to barbie to see margot. it just so happens she was casted, any actress can be barbie and still gross the same, given the massive payola and funding on marketing it received

She actually produced Barbie and hired Greta Gerwig to write and direct, she wasn't just casted :giraffe:

You just love throwing the word "payola" around, do you? You are one of the most miserable people i've seen on this site, seriously :toofunny3:

Also, Margot was never the problem and people need to stop hating on her for no reason. The way a certain fanbase has been viciously hating on her when she hasn't done anything wrong is nothing short of creepy :biblio:

I think she's a very good actress, but she also doesn't have the magnetism that will make a bad film watchable (but very few actors do, imo). So her career stands or falls with the projects she picks.

I'd die on a hill that Margot was amazing in Babylon and that movie deserved better at the box office.

Not really. She's part of a movie that is a huge brand, on her own she doesn't bring in viewers.

Her "mid acting", thanks for showing your obvious and pathetic bias :toofunny3:

"Shove Barbie on everyone" :toofunny3:

Guess what: people in life will enjoy things that you personally won't like. Probably a mind-blowing concept to you, i know, but it's true. The marketing for this film was very similar to the marketing of other huge blockbuster movies, there was nothing unique about it.

i didn’t know any blockbuster movie that is building literal houses on countries just to promote a movie. and the countless brand collabs from zara to even krispy kreme.
