OnlyManInTheWorld Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Last year was brutal for her in terms of box office performance. Amsterdam and Babylon ended up being monstrous box office BOMBS. Everyone was looking forward to Barbie’s numbers. It really was a make it or break it movie for Margot. Now, when Barbie’s smashing records, is it safe to say Margot is a box office elixir?
Zaram Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 One movie doesn't make you suddenly box office elixier. Let's see first how her next movie is doing 9 8
Popular Post Mr. Mendes Posted July 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2023 (edited) Margot was never the problem, it was the projects she was picking. Margot is an incredibly talented actress and frequently the best part of the bad movies she kept finding herself in. All it took was finding a good script for people to be reminded why she got so famous to begin with. If she keeps picking good scripts, the good fortune will continue. paddii_ Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Not really. The Barbie brand itself and the creative marketing carried plus 1 minute ago, Mr. Mendes said: Margot was never the problem, it was the projects she was picking. RedCarpet Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 No, It’s more massive movie promotion and Barbie brand itself. she is amazing tho 2
PopKills Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Love her but no one went to see the movie just for her. 4 1
makeme Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Well she is certainly in a better position but she needs to play her cards right with the next few movies she does
KatyPrismSpirit Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 people didnt go for her but congrats to her
Minogue Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Babylon was the best film I’ve seen in recent years what a gem 1

She was basically trying to chase that Oscar last year and picked bad projects. The irony is now is Barbie is in the Oscar discourse lol 1
Gorjesspazze9 Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 (edited) She been a star for like over half a decade now also Barbie was a hit because it was marketed as the biggest event film this year for the past 6 months. People were gonna go see it regardless of the main lead. Box office poison & elixer are just made up terms. Every major actor/actress has flips and hits🤷♀️ Edited July 24, 2023 by Gorjesspazze9 2
Margaux Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 people don’t go to barbie to see margot. it just so happens she was casted, any actress can be barbie and still gross the same, given the massive payola and funding on marketing it received 2 1

You are one of the most miserable people i've seen on this site, seriously Also, Margot was never the problem and people need to stop hating on her for no reason. The way a certain fanbase has been viciously hating on her when she hasn't done anything wrong is nothing short of creepy 3 1
Haze Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I think she's a very good actress, but she also doesn't have the magnetism that will make a bad film watchable (but very few actors do, imo). So her career stands or falls with the projects she picks. 1
Konril Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I'd die on a hill that Margot was amazing in Babylon and that movie deserved better at the box office. 2
midnightdawn Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Not really. She's part of a movie that is a huge brand, on her own she doesn't bring in viewers.

Bloodflowers. Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Margot needs to make commercual roles like Barbie and stop doing boring unappealing Oscar baity films

Probably a mind-blowing concept to you, i know, but it's true. The marketing for this film was very similar to the marketing of other huge blockbuster movies, there was nothing unique about it.
