Cardi B lowered the bar for female rap so much to the point it has become a literal joke in mainstream music.

Why do you think that?

I feel like because of Cardi’s prominence in the mainstream, it opened doors for female rappers with really little to no talent to get insane amounts of exposure. In Nicki’s day you needed to have talent. Now any female rapper can get a deal for singing about the same tired topic. It’s apparant to the point every major label has invested in their TikTok female rapstar.

Agree with everything in the OP! I'd even go so far as to say most people don't bother checking who wrote what much less how many people in total. And honestly if the song itself is great it really doesn't matter :jamming:

- Stanning can be a slippery slope to unhealthy parasocial relationships

- Celebrating people's work is more fulfilling than reveling in someone's failure

- Generalizations, specifically of fanbases, are more often than not just someone's attempt at exercising envy or sadness

- The culture of some forums can reinforce echo chamber-like discussions, which isn't inherently a bad thing so long as it's acknowledged

Most of ATRLers fail to recognize they're getting old and don't understand why Gen Z likes something they don't

This too oml… times are changing and some people have a hard time accepting it :deadbanana2:

a first week debut (and initial chart placements in general) doesn't guarantee a hit song and shouldn't be the final consideration on whether a song is a hit or not. Longevity + impact will forever be more impressive than a peak.

In Nicki’s day there were no mainstream female rappers:rip:

IOP was one of the best albums of 2018, the critics and grammys agree, I know that’s a sensitive topic for you as a katy stan

And criticising someone’s fave is not an attack on your entire live and existence, like calm down :deadbanana2:

pitting successful women against each other is just as misogynistic as some of the straight men behavior y'all dislike <3

- There is nothing iconic or influential about blackout.

- The fact that most of atrl thinks that the late 2000s and early 2010s trashy/ dated electropop is the pinnacle of good music is a testament to how out of touch people on here are.

- Artists who create an emotional bond with their audience by releasing heartfelt music will always be more successful, have more longevity, and be appreciated more than artists who release vapid ontz ontz music.
