The irony is all anyone's going to see in Ivy League's now based on this logic is Asian students.

Unless the schools have already found ways around this such as cover letters.

this is major but I don't think it will change as much as people think. They can't really prohibit students from writing about their background in their essays

Eh, this does not change much. College admissions can still do this, just not overtly. There will be no way to "prove" they are doing this lol.

All of this because a bunch of ordinarily plain and boring white people kept blaming black people for them not being good enough to get into college.

Yep, exactly.  At the end of the day, a diverse background and a good essay will forever overshadow having "good grades". Sorry, but your story about how you once struggled because you could not choose between a Louis Vuitton and Chanel luggage tag just does not cut it.

Don't think there's not another lawsuit waiting in the wings that a black student describing growing up with a single absent mother is being given advantage over a blue-collar white student who was a foster child in the letter process.

But now people will be able to successfully sue over it if they find out that it was a consideration.

And how will they find out? There is hardly any way to know unless someone within the admissions board outwardly says so.

The same way they determined that Asians are automatically given lower personality scores, regardless of extracurriculars.

I could see them using school profiles as a proxy possibly

very hard to prove that is the point. College admissions officers aren't dumb, they will just have to be careful about what they write and say

But that was due to the open seats and the districts they were in. Dems should have lost WAYYYY more than they did in 2022, and they didn't because of things like this (and crazy Trump candidates).

Can't wait to see the obvious effects of this policy

Progressive California has banned race as admissions since 1996! Where’s the outrage been for California?

The University of California is already prohibited from using race as an admissions factor under ballot measures approved by voters in 1996 and 2020. Eight other states have followed California's lead in forbidding race-conscious admissions policies at state universities, including Michigan, Florida and Washington.24 mins ago

Have you ever worked at a university? They can’t keep their mouths shut. :rip: Stuff leaks from the inside out all the time. You can bring a lawsuit saying you feel that you were discriminated against by those who made the admission decision and they will have to say under oath that race wasn’t a factor. Trust me, I know how this works and I know where this is heading. The university will have no leg to stand on. Even the appearance of continuing Affirmative Action will cost them millions. It’s like DeSantis signing legislation allowing parents to sue over anything they deem inappropriate. This opens the door. The university can no long hide behind Affirmative Action to prevent lawsuits. They lost what kept them secure. They’re going to be walking on eggshells trying not to give the slightest appearance that they’re continuing to factor race into the equation which means that even if the non-white student isn’t more suitable for the admission, they’ll give it to them just so they don’t have to deal with a lawsuit.

As another person here stated, elections have consequences. Just as people thought Roe v Wade wouldn’t be overturned, everything is now fair game. Expect a whole host of decisions that were considered untouchable years ago.

We keep stepping backwards :ace: I ******* hate it here

this is likely to jeopardize the representation of black and Latino students on campuses. As if we already don’t have so many hoops to jump through to begin with

To my knowledge, the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action have been Caucasian females :rip:
