mystery Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 As bad as it sounds, implosion is the best possible outcome in the situation where they die. Being stuck at the bottom and running out of oxygen would be torture, at least this way they didn't suffer and it was instantaneous. 1

TasteOfYourLips Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 I hope this teaches other billionaires to stick to their foie gras instead of doing this kind of shenanigans. I'm just glad they probably died quickly because suffocating in total darkness is a horrific death.
Winged Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 'Landing frame and a rear cover from the submersible' among the debris We have just had an update from dive expert David Mearns, who says the debris includes "a landing frame and a rear cover from the submersible". Mearns is a friend of passengers aboard the Titan. David Mearns has told the BBC that the president of the Explorers Club (which is connected to the diving and rescue community), says the debris includes "a landing frame and a rear cover from the submersible". 1
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted June 22, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted June 22, 2023 Saw talk about the US Coast Guard potentially suing Oceangate for the costs of the expedition to find the sub, anyone have more info about this?
Domination Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Okay, so it definitely imploded. Good lord, let this be a lesson to other ultra wealthy who seek these types of experiences.

Bussea Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 This is crazy But this is the outcome be basically knew what was going to happen. Their bodies are never going to be recovered for their families to lay them to rest. Hopefully this is the last time that this type of exploration happens. The ocean is SUCH a scary place

Asscatchem Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 are you saying the bodies disintegrated throughout the sea after implosion?
Winged Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 3 minutes ago, Luckitty said: does that mean their bodies also imploded or just the submarine? In short, the body is reduced to fish food, since not much of the hull remains unless it’s a section already flooded. Implosion events occur within milliseconds, at speeds approaching Mach 3 and far too quickly for the human brain to comprehend. Now, imagine the same thing, only with an aircraft capable of that speed hitting a mountain at Mach 3. Similar. It’s important to remember that our bodies are mostly water anyway, so in an implosion event, there’s not much solid matter left anyway. 1 1
