dirrtydiana Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Not at all. MJ, Madonna, Janet, Britney, the Beatles and so many more had imperial phases. She’s only taking advantage of the foundation laid before her and exploiting it with her many privileges. Only difference is her phase hallow and not warranted. It’s empty like her fans’ pockets afterwards because with the aforementioned, they left historical and cultural impact behind them. She’s the female version of Harry styles; both equivalent of biting into a burger and getting no patty, only bread. 6 1 30

In fact they all outsold her by a lot. Literally none of them have moved as many units in a single year as Taylor in 2022 and probably 2023.

Taylor is the biggest artist on Earth by a long shot and thus naturally this place is full of Swifties. I'm not sure what's surprising about Swifties making threads about Taylor on a forum dedicated to exactly that 2
Big Bad Wolf Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 These Taylor thinkpieces are so tired and cringy now. Keep it in the base please

Gorjesspazze9 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Nothing I said was false. Swifties relax, it’s ok to admit Taylor has been outsold multiple times🤭

Folklore89sm Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Yes. 80 million streams a day and so many active “eras” smashing left right and centre at the same time. Nobody’s claiming she’s the first to have an imperial phase, but she’s experiencing it in a brand new way.

The user said the others moved way more albums during their peaks. I'm saying that's not a good point cause she in fact has moved more. Do you know how to read? Edited June 18, 2023 by Badgalbriel

KatyPrismSpirit Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Its the first massive imperial phase since probably Madonna's 2005-2008 Confessions and Hard Candy era + Sticky & Sweet Tour. She was having really big global hits ("Hung Up", "4 Minutes") 10 albums in and had the biggest female stadium tour of all time. Taylor is currently 10 albums in as well with massive global singles ("Cruel Summer", "Anti-Hero") and the Era's tour will very likely break Madonna's record. I feel like the imperial phase will only continue with TS11 and all the re-recordings coming out. But I feel like Taylor also should take a break.

That is not even a debate at this point of her career. The stats are too overwhelming. 1

She will take a deserved 3-year break, travel the world, take time off and then come back aiming for blood again. We're not ready for 2027.

Swifties relax, it’s ok to admit Taylor has been outsold multiple times🤭 No one is denying the artists you named move more total units, seeing as they've been in the industry way longer. It is a fact however that since Nielsen started tracking units, no artist has ever moved more units in a calendar year than Taylor. That's what an imperial phase is all about - being the biggest at a given time. 3
