Indie Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 (edited) When asked on IG Q&A if she would be releasing The Loneliest Time Side B as she has for the previous two albums, she responded saying the new project will be "Less of a B-sides, more of a companion project to TLT" UPDATE 07/03/2023: On a Japanese music podcast, Carly has confirmed the titled of the upcoming album to be "The Loveliest Time", noting that it serves as a completion to the narrative that began with 2022's The Loneliest Time. Rostam, the producer who worked on Warm Blood, Western Wind, and Go Find Yourself Or Whatever, has also confirmed the title of the upcoming project, and that he has contributed to two high BPM songs for the album. BlackoutZone Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 So it's gonna be a mix of TLT outtakes and new material I think, interesting. I wish she separated those, cause the new material she makes is stunning and I hope it's gonna be her next direction entirely. Especially the song of which the lyrics she teased on the story just now. 2
raven Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 more songs like anxious, keep away, the loneliest time, western wind, and bad thing twice pls queen 1
Sazare Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Hmm. I mean the Loneliest Time felt kinda like a Dedicated companion piece which in turn felt like an Emotion companion piece She seems scared to branch out more, which saddens me. Wish she’d released that disco album :’( 1

Kenji Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Just now, Sazare said: Have you heard it? well, kind of. there's a handful of songs that have leaked from the project, and you can very clearly tell how, when, and why the album was scrapped. it never made it past early development so it's very rough around the edges and not exactly 'disco' in sound. there's a lot of potential in its songwriting but everything noteworthy has already been repurposed into songs on Dedicated and The Loneliest Time the way Carly has discussed it in interviews makes it really clear she wasn't satisfied with the direction the project was going in and wasn't proud of it. she said she'd never release it and that it only exists for her and her bandmates to laugh over and make fun of

I disagree, songs like Bends, Western Wind and Go Find Yourself or Whatever demonstrate clear artistic growth and that she's trying different things. A country-esque ballad like GFYOW would not have fit on any of her other albums. Keep Away sounds almost Daft Punk influenced, differentiating itself from her signature sound. You can say you don't like what she's been doing lately but she's objectively not stagnating creatively. 7

She’s been wearing a lot of different hats but not really committing to any one thing in particular. Which can be fine — Emotion is a pretty eclectic mix — but her latest ventures out of her comfort zone have felt to me more born out of a lack of direction. Don’t get me wrong, there’s definitely some good moments on The Loneliest Time (which I think was a step up from Dedicated) but neither one really feels like a fully realized artistic statement like Emotion (or even Kiss) did. 1 1
Don Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 I’m always ready for new CRJ music! What is the Shy Boy song she posted about? Is it a single of an upcoming album?
