Watch her say this and never release it. I feel like Normani is never happening.

There’s more to the interview here @wildsidenormani if you want to include. It mentions the album

She’s doing full choreo in the video and talking about creating music video concepts… clearly something is coming idc

I'm confused how people here are still actively waiting for her when it's kinda clear she doesn't want to be a popstar :deadbanana2:

What even is this hot-take and hot takes like this?

I don't mind tugging at her where necessary (e.g. lack of social media presence), but it will always baffle me how she gets this edit on stan forums where we're hella clued up on scenarios like JoJo, Tinashe, and countless others who've been locked into label drama and had to be largely silent about it.

It's crazy how some literally and purposefully discard all they know and understand from those situations and come to fact-starved conclusions that Normani is somehow "lazy" or "not wanting" of star status.

Do the intricacies of her videos or performances present as someone who is unbothered or unwanting?

BE SERIOUS.

IMO, it's giving pressed for other reasons (e.g. bothered by her potential), following the crowd (aka "cool" to drag her), and IMO even racially-coded in "some" instances.

No one is above dragging (including Normani), but let it at least...make sense.

What is going on with her "career"... partnering with Bose but a single or an album are nowhere in sight. On top of that promoting a leaked song... chile

well I hope she got a good check for the commercial

Candy Paint deserves an official release, no one gives a **** it has leaked before. :coffee2:

She should have chosen Make It Hard instead of Candy Paint, MIH is so much superior, I really hope they have made changes to Candy Paint caused the leaked version is way too linear

Also I genuinely wish Normani the best but I'm starting to feel like she doesn't really want to be a megastar? She doesn't seem crazy active on instagram or anything, she seems to enjoy attending events which is good for her. Unless I missed additional context on why she's not really active.

Sounds like what I would say for a good performance review with my employer only for them to be whelmed by the results.

I want that song NOW! (the legal one at least) :jonny5:

Nothings coming. No release date. A preview of a song that was supposed to come out over a year ago - that has leaked. Merely just partnering with bose for the check! Sure queen!

The fact that I can't tell if this is sarcasm or if you're just being a truthful Normani stan. :skull:

Normani herself has said multiple times that the problem is not her team or the label, she kept saying over and over for the past few years that she has been boycotted but never said a thing by who, which makes no sense at all, I truly don’t understand what’s holding her back

You clearly didn’t bother to read the interview. Her father was diagnosed with cancer right after her mother and yet ya’ll are making asinine posts about her as if she’s just sitting twiddling her thumbs somewhere.

To be fair, I never said YOUR take was racially geared, but it has been the case from others echoing similar sentiments about her IMO.

In general, her situation is weird.

She for sure ought to be more active on social media, but at the same time, we were all screaming for her to do more of what Chloe was doing  (e.g. be hyper-visible) and look how that panned out. Overexposed.

If we're calling a spade a spade, Normani is somewhat limited in her offering. She is not the girl who should be covering songs on IG, she vocally she ain't that girl. Similarly, and I say this as someone who actually likes her, but her personality is not giving "for social media". She seems quite...vanilla. Which TBH is ok, because she brings the spice where it matters (videos, performances).

I do think she could and should be serving looks on IG and pushing hard on the brand tip, if for no other reason than visibility.

But at the same time, given her somewhat "limited" palette (no shade at all) and clear as day drama on the back-end, I actually think there's something slightly (and I mean slightly) smart about her less is more approach.

Basically coming up for air when she's got something to show/promote. The challenge for her now is simply keeping that momentum and content flow going rather than disappearing.
