ughhh really was hoping "Calm Down" could've snatched a #2 peak

Blank Space TV is so going #1 the week 1989 TV is dropped:

That said, the fact that old catalogues are doing much better than new music right now is a clear sign the music industry is dying or slowing down.

i mean it's #73 on the global 200 still

i refuse to listen to that cover of Tracy’s legendary song. i hate that you can just cover old songs that young people don’t know and make it a hit :weeps: a ******* shame

Yeah it would need to increase 40% :rip:

Makes no sense to include it right now

“Country” music has become such a stain in the music industry and on the charts recently. The fact that Morgan will likely break the record for longest #1 just speaks to how trash America is nowadays :dies:

And while I like the Fast Car cover, for it to be doing this well when it’s some fat white straight man’s cover of a queer black woman’s classic song is again… America in a nutshell. :bam: But hey at least Miley is still smashing!

Wait Fast Car is literally just a cover? I thought it was using the same beat and some lyrics like Wild Thoughts/Maria Maria.

Can Doja debut at #1 the week after, or is it too competitive up top?

Doja historically doesn’t debut high.

Need To Know debuted at 38 and peaked at 8.

Women took 28 weeks to go top 10.

Kiss Me More had the highest debut at 7, but also peaked higher at 3.

she’s also been a slow burner in singles and overall. Hot Pink debuted at 93, peaked at 9 and has a #1. :dies:

Snooze deserves to go top 10. Such a great song.

As streaming services and tiktok continue to grow old catalogues are getting more exposure and taking away from new releases. I’ve read several articles on it. I don’t think it’s necessarily the music industry dying because music consumption as a whole has grow a lot the past few years. Older music is now getting heard by new generations because we don’t just listen to radio stations anymore that mainly showcase classics, recent hits, and new releases.

OT: I can’t believe Cruel Summer is already in the top 40! Insane numbers it’s pulling :duca:

Thank you, I know the original song, but I refuse to listen to Luke’s song. So I was asking is his version like a remix of some sort or is it literally him doing a cover singing all the same words over the same beat (of his guitar version).

Luke's song is a full 100% cover, even more so than Creepin/I Don't Wanna Know. At least Creepin adds another verse to the original, Luke just sings the same words over the same beat.

I'm hoping for a miracle and CD is #2 tomorrow... so we shall see... If not, I am afraid the final peak will be #3.

Is there a chance of Fast Car slow down after this week? or it is strong enough to hold that #2 for months?

Posted

Calm Down is still stable, and after this week Flowers is probably not a competition anymore, so if Fast Car slow down, there is still hope

what is with this hatred towards Luke Combs?  It's a fantastic cover and he kept it 100% as is, which is respectable.  Is it just cuz they hate country and assume everyone singing country is racist?
