I don't think she's the problem, the market is just saturated with pop girls to the point where you really need to stand out more than ever.

I feel like she could've gotten a few hits if she was a thing in the 00s for instance. Right now, the whole singer-songwriter shtick is already taken by Olivia, so...

she needs to go the xtina stripped / dirtty route if she wants success

a unique selling point for sure. i love sabrina and root for her but when you think about it, every successful mpg has some sort of niche that they fulfil. i see her in the same boat as like zara larsson or bebe rexha

The whole transition from good girl to sexy is really an old trick. I don't see it at all.

She is basic with a decent amount of good songs

She's gained a lot of momentum in the past year that I'm pretty sure her next album will be successful

Yeah I agree, it's a really old trick. She couldn't pull it off anyways

Her singing "water's not the only thing I swallow" onstage came across as extremely trashy

And this was extremely cringeworthy too:

Yeah, her trying to sell sex sometimes comes extremely forced and it doesn't suit her. It doesn't help the fact she looks like a baby doll.

OT: As some have already stated, more identity and flavor, I like her music, but I'm not passionate about it.

She has a dedicated fan base and can tour, so she's not lacking anything.

- Failed to capitalize on the Olivia drama by releasing a mid song

- Weird single choices for the latest album

Posted

Maybe because the potential fanbase hated her because of how mean they thought she was to Olivia Rodrigo by “stealing” Joshua Bassett and then releasing “Skin” which seemed to brag about it.

She has no charisma and something to make her standout among other female singers.

I mean there is a reason why The Carpenters and Madison Beeard can't get bigger, because when you already have Ariana Grande, you dont need less-talented copies.

Yeah it's identity

basically what AJay said with different tone

Her last album sounds too similar to Ariana and Taylor

and previously, her material is so bland either

I think she can be Ariana rehash for a while now that Ariana takes long break

Idk I find Beba Rexha, Sabrina, Zara just kinda over there?

Like a bit boring, no personality, no edge meh

She was literally this close to making it when the Olivia drama happened, "Skin" literally ruined it for her lmao. It should've been "Because I Liked A Boy", better song, better video and a much better angle to come from given how villainized she was getting at that point.

She doesn’t have anything that sets her apart from other similar artists.

She had a concert last night in Dublin and I was surprised by how many people that I knew went (especially the day after Harry Styles' concert), so she has a fanbase for sure. I'm not mad about her music though, and she doesn't really stand out much to me.

A good label.

Major labels have plenty of small/irrelevant artists

Labels dropping artists because of their success is a fanfiction.

edit: and island records isn't even a major label in 2023 lol

She’s fine. She can tour, can chart on the Hot 100 and has a strong niche fanbase and she keeps growing as an artist. Her next era will be the definitive moment to say if she could succeed or not but she doesn’t need it now. She found her lane and she’s happy and people are connecting to her and her music more than ever and making money and getting her name out there like never -and some other girls wish they could-

also it seems her label is trying to push Feather soon and that would be crucial about the discussion tbh

Ehhh, I think y'all are writing her off too soon. Let's see what she pulls out for her next era.

She has some momentum rn and she's been touring extensively, so she could very well be on the verge of breaking out with her next project

I actually love her new album and never had an interest in her previously.
