Jelena is only known for being a constant silly teen drama. They were too young and didn't last enough to be iconic imo. 

 

Bey-Z on the other hand: iconic collabs, children, the elevator moment...

JB fame in Asia means there's more attention towards his relationships. I'm not even saying he is necessarily a bigger or more successful musician than Beyonce but he is more famous.

Selena is also much more famous than Jay Z.

Bey-Z built an entire empire together (1bio empire at that). Their relevance, impact and IMPORTANCE in music is undeniable and unshakeable. Their careers are legendary on their own, together they are just THAT couple in the entertainment industry. Nobody comes to close to that. Together they rightfully are considered to be part of the Mount Rushmore of music

He is bigger and he is 'big' in Asia. You can just look at the Google Trends difference between them since 2004 and that doesn't even include China which doesn't use Google and where JB is also very popular.

On the contraty Jay Z is a non factor outside of the US and some parts of Europe.

Jelena is still a big thing in India and both of them see that popularity transfer to their social media popularity and music consumption as well. I'd assume a large portion of Asia is still this way.
