The Slayer Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I'm not really seeing the point of an R&B version apart from a couple extra sales

cockatoo Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Well it's over Tbh it's not the end of the world, it's only single number one. There's a chance later singles could catch on, especially if the next one has a feature.
Nashe Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 what on Earth is she doing in the US when she needs to make it work in the UK first
Jaay Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 (edited) Are there any huge televised UK promo slots coming up? I wish she released this right before The Brits are booked that slot. I just think in the UK this has been uneventful (I’m so happy about all the radio promo obviously) and I wonder why? Like even if she got a Summertime Ball performance slot. orange22 Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Yeah why wasn’t she in the UK for this? We don’t even let the American girlies do this sound here maybe she could get a hit here with a “1,2 Step” or “Case of the Ex” type moment 1

I'm sure she'll be on the late night show circuits for the next single - hoping we'll have Jade within the next couple months too.
tbhmatt Posted July 1, 2023 Author Posted July 1, 2023 I’m assuming these are genuine Shazams and not entirely fan driven? Would make sense with radio AirPlay picking up
LittleFreak Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 I didn't really like this at first, but it kinda grew on me. The chorus is a vibe
WERKER Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 A 41 drop is disappointing. I think the drop would have been nowhere as substantial if she’d been here.. I know LM never needed to in the end but even a This Morning, One Show performance would have helped.
Solaria Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 It's rare for new artist to have their debut single go No.1 anyways, this isn't the days of Gaga/Katy anymore. Olivia is an anomaly. Build a brand, release many songs, tour, work your ass off. People will catch on eventually
The Slayer Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 She isn't technically a 'new' artist, I think the response is just shocking as she has so much good will/support and it appeared online like a lot of fans here for solo Leigh-Anne. I feel like her potential collab with Stormzy will do well. 1

Sasha. Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 i'm gonna be honest, leigh-anne has 0 star quality and i don't ever see her becoming a successful solo artist. anyone who thought she was going to smash was delusional, i'm sorry... she was the least popular little mix member and while a lot of that stemmed from racism, there also wasn't a lot to stan compared to the other girls. she's always been the weakest singer (although she improved with time), average dancer, didn't really stand out with her personality either so what exactly is the gp supposed to be attracted to? i can see her becoming a feature girl but i'm 100% sure she'll never have a successful solo career. song wise, the lyrics are pretty weak. i do like the instrumental and general vibe, and she sounds good, but the lyrics are so abysmal to me it's difficult to look past. like quite a lot of you, i'm also puzzled as to why they're trying to make her happen in the US before she even makes a solo name for herself in the UK? little mix were established and had huge support in their main market and they couldn't make a dent in the US, there's no way they think she'll be able to right? 1 2
tbhmatt Posted July 1, 2023 Author Posted July 1, 2023 You guys keep saying “she needs to make this a hit in the UK first” but.. there’s literally nothing more that she can do right now if we’re being honest. As it’s been discussed already, there are no big TV promo slots available and TV slots have arguably minimal impact these days anyway. She’s already done promo for every single major UK radio station and is currently #5 on the airplay charts… Her label also been heavily promoting the song on social media, sponsored ads on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube etc Short of her renting a double decker bus saying “STREAM DONT SAY LOVE” and touring it up and down the country with a megaphone, there really isn’t much more she can do at the moment. If the public don’t latch on to the song from radio or playlists then there’s little hope for this song.

While I agree that she's the weakest vocalist, I think she has cute, good-girl personality that is still marketable People (esp female audiences) just relate to her story
tbhmatt Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 Down to #64 on Apple Music, this is pretty much officially dead and buried now.
The Slayer Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 So do we think we'll get any sort of promo from Leigh this week or is this about to flop into oblivion?
WERKER Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 I don’t care for Leigh to have amazing success but I just know she’s going to be devastated by the performance I just want her to have her full vision released and celebrate her body of work. It will be interesting to see how Perrie and Jade perform
KatyPrismSpirit Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 I dont even want to sound discouraging but she should just stop trying. Its not gonna work anyways. She had a good run with the girl group
