Leigh-Anne - “Don’t Say Love”

#50 on Apple Music now! It’s still climbing!

I’d love her to do 100k on Spotify UK and at least somewhere between 500k - 600k WW. I’m honestly not sure what to expect, feels like uncharted territory.

I’m expecting *slightly* less?

Ooh thank you, going to search and listen now!

I think I set my expectations way too high. I expected instant top 10 on Apple Music.

Totally unrealistic though, but let’s hope she debuts top 10! I think she’s sold around 10k CD’s so far?

The album has no set release date and Leigh-Anne says she “hopes” it’ll come early next year…

:rip:

I’m all for an expansive era but…

Posted

-There was only so much of herself she could show in a band
-No compromising and doing choreo that suits her
-She didn't see how her and Perrie being moms and going by everyone's different schedules would have worked if they carried on being in Little Mix, she said it just wouldn't work.
-She loved every moment in the band
-The decision for Little Mix to end was unanimous and it was a gradual discussion over time that had been lingering.
-Leigh said she always thought throughout the years if the group ended she'd definitely still pursue a music career
-DSL was one of the first songs she got
-As we get each single it'll slowly get more R&B
-She wants her album to have something for everyone, a mix of everything and different genres (garage, r&b, afrobeats)
-It was nice in the studio on her own as there was no compromise and writing about what she wanted to talk about
-Leigh says her and the girls have kept their own music to themselves and haven't really shared much with each other as they are all perfectionists
-Leigh thinks not much has changed in the industry for there to be more racial equality.
-Leigh discusses how even after her documentary how she said she'd like more POC working with Little Mix and said this to her label she'd still have the same issue when going on sets with Little Mix. She said it was infuriating on the few videos after the documentary she made with Little Mix that there was still not much diversity despite her requests/concerns being raised.
-Leigh said she calls the shots now.
-There will be some exciting features on the album.
-The album is nearly finished.
-Leigh is hoping the album will be out early next year.
-The video for the second single starts with her rising out of the water - a continuation from the first video.

Something interesting I noticed is that the song is released under Warner but also MADEINTHE90S LIMITED, which appears to be her own company (:clap3:) after some research.

Would be really cool if she owned her masters and also makes sense to why this seems like such an explosive launch if she was funding some of it herself.

Finally listening to this song and yess Leigh Anne!!! :jamming: I love this! A great introduction for her solo career. Her vocals sound better than ever and the song is a catchy bop. I hope this becomes a UK smash at least. I can see it getting some cute peaks WW depending on how her label promotes this. Very excited for a solo album from Leigh, I know she will serve quality.

Spotify UK

#54 (NEW) - 130,715 streams

I honestly don’t think that’s terrible at all. I was hoping for over 100k streams and to make the Top 50, so it actually performed about where I expected it to.

It’s obviously a shame it didn’t make the Top 50, but there’s still room to grow. Remember it has no Hot Hits UK support yet and she still needs to find her audience as a solo member, a lot of Little Mix’s ‘fans’ were casual audiences so they won’t pick this up until the AirPlay increases.

Let’s not panic just yet!

The song that featured Nicki Minaj and featured on the UK's largest streaming playlist, Hot Hits UK? Wow, how shocking. :skull: This is a great start for Leigh-Anne's solo song. Hopefully it'll get some better Spotify playlisting soon.

Decent result. The great thing about her label is that they know how to work a single after the first day; not a single one of their artists are first day juggernauts.

In the past year they've had songs from Anne-Marie, David Guetta, NLE Choppa, Zach Bryan and Omar Apollo (and likely Dua) grown into big hits so I'm excited for Leigh-Anne.

Well, Jesy released quickly at the height of public attention after her departure from Little Mix, had a huge name attached to her single which would have boosted playlist reach and streams & had a large internet controversy surrounding her at the time.

She may have done 250k streams then, but how many streams is that song doing now? Not 250k a day, I can tell you that much. Debuts aren’t everything.

Anyways, back to Leigh-Anne; I think Top 15 debut is more realistic than Top 10 based on Spotify, as streams will dip a little over the next few days. I’m not worried, she’s got plenty of room to grow.

+ the hype of being the first member to go solo and the competition against Between Us

The song sounds great on the radio, so fingers crossed BBC R1 and R2 playlist it soon. Capital played it quite a lot on Friday!

I love how she seems to have planned out the entire era, with the second single already teased and the video already shot; being a continuation of the first. We love clear concepts!

I just hope that, if the song “underperforms”, it doesn’t pressure the label in to changing tactics and throwing off the entire era. Success is ideal, but it would be a shame if Leigh’s vision suffers for the sake of trying to score a cheap hit. She needs to establish herself and build an audience and the best way to do that is by releasing music. Warner, I hope you’re listening!

It’s not much, but it is nice to see the song chart outside of the UK!

I was hoping for a top 50 spotify debut but even most of the Confetti songs with playlisting were hovering in the later part of the chart (top 50) for most of the run.

As expected. I predicted the 110-150k range and that seems plausible.

It will grow! Once she performs it and does the ad-leighbs it’s over for the UK pop baddies :eli:

I'm hoping the CDs push this into the top 10!
