It's kinda hard to know right now if Warner or Atlantic will have any input on her record deal, based on the credits from their current signees:

Nice Life Recording Company:

  • Estevie
  • Junior Mesa
  • Ricky Reed
  • St. Panther

Nice Life Recording and Atlantic Recording Corporation:

  • The Marías
  • Lizzo

Nice Life Recording Company, under exclusive licence to Warner Records, Inc.:

  • John-Robert

And knowing Tinashe and her current career moment, she probably will keep masters control so it will be more like: Tinashe Music Inc., under exclusive licence to Nice Life Recording Company.

yeah my money's on it being a distribution deal like this

But Atlantic/Warner are still the distributor though right? Aren’t they Nice Life distributors? If they are her distributors will she still get budget, promo, radio etch?

If that case why would she just sign a distribution deal with Warner, universal, or Sony?

Well tinashe create her own music. The album was mostly done before signing. They are just helping with funding and distributing the project. We all know tinashe executive produces, write, and A&R her projects so she is good.

why did that poster make it seem like all the people he listed made the same sounding music or something :rip: wtf, if anything those are all artists that actually do get support and budget.

the word of today is budget

Well if she’s in full control with the list of producers that we heard about a few months ago, this will be her best era yet. I’m hoping for a radio single if she made a deal with a label — that’s kind of all I really want out of that!

What would recommend and why

it’s a little hard to explain because every major label does have their drawbacks but for me republic has always been where i believe she should be under very specific terms & my issue with atlantic/warner stems strictly from individuals who work there and the environment, from my knowledge, being much less positive for poc but things could’ve changed that i’m just unaware of.

Agreed with you tbh, based on closely following the majors incidentally for all these years, I would want all of my favs to steer clear of Atlantic/Warner, Epic and RCA.

Yeah there have been a lot of incidents and scandals at Atlantic/Warner. Including artist tinashe is friends with. She is in the industry she should definitely know what going on.

I am hoping nice life under universal or Columbia records or something.

She is not working directly with Ricky, her album has been pretty much done for half a year now, but she’s been looking for a new deal for a long time, cause she wants her mixtapes to get cleared and released on streaming and I believe this deal finally includes that.

OMFG!!!!!! No wonder she keeps emphasizing the number 10. It basically means the Mixtapes are coming to streaming! :jonny5:

Thank you sis! Do you have any tea if this is a distribution deal or an actual label deal. Also is the July 6 the album release?

The question here is not what major is she signed with, this is old news already. The question is: it's Nice Life only or Nice Life + Warner / Atlantic? Nice Life is a business partner with Warner only.

If you like her more experimental R&B stuff. To me, it’s some of the most creative music she’s made.

Oh to have the chance of listening to her mixtapes for the first time :allears: You're in for a treat! All 3 are great.

OT: Cautiously excited. Hope whatever deal she signed is exactly what she's looking for.

Absolutely! Some of the mixtape tracks can be considered some of her best! Namely Ecstasy, This Feeling, Vulnerable, Wanderer, and so much more.

You'll be surprised how much quality Tinashe was making from her bedroom studio!
