I don't condone cheating in any form but leaving your girlfriend is way different than cheating on your wife of ten years who you share two children with. That said, I think he is a huge opportunist and the moment he saw he had a chance with a movie star he threw his girlfriend aside. He clearly doesn't have much of a moral compass.
