airplane Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 He’s absolutely right. I don’t understand why one of those girls is even included in the “hitmakers” conversation.

superben Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 Bruno obviously has more hits than Beyonce. Not even debatable. Taylor has many hits, but I think Bruno has some HUGE hits, so it's in his favor as well.

Reflektor_Creep Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 Yes, Bruno definitely has more hits than Taylor. And they are worldwide hits.

Moonlight Nation Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 2 hours ago, byzantium said: Bruno Mars is a lot like Katy Perry. A lot of Mega hits but overall the discography is not too large. (Like three albums?). Beyoncé and Taylor both have more hits if we define it as 3x platinum or more. Bruno has three solo albums and one collaboration project with Anderson .Paak (which given its 70s R&B and Philadelphia Soul sound, resonated significantly more with US demographics, meaning its success was more muted worldwide). So four overall, which makes his amount of hit singles all the more impressive. But yeah, if one considers a hit as 3x Platinum or more, Taylor and Beyoncé definitely have more thanks to the combination of longer careers and more passionate interest for deep cuts (particularly the case for Swift). OT: I can't at some folks here claiming Taylor Swift's non-singles aren't as well known as Bruno's when "All Too Well" 's cult status as a fan favourite deep cut was one of the main reasons why its 10-minute version managed to get to #1. And that's not getting into "Cruel Summer", "Don't Blame Me", and "Enchanted" thriving on Global Spotify right now.

BnPac Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 It's just so weird that the moment women win at anything, you have all those straight men, under the disguise of preference or "overrated" try to insert, footballers, old rock artists, and any hetero male in the conversation. So Bruno has more hits? OK, so? You prefer Bruno? OK, so? 1

I find Jason to be tremendously overhated and he has a fair share of great bops, but please... Bruno has ten songs with over 1B streams on Spotify ("Uptown Funk!", "That's What I Like", "When I Was Your Man", "Just The Way You Are", "Locked Out Of Heaven", "24K Magic", "Young, Wild & Free", "Leave The Door Open", non-single "Talking To The Moon", and "Grenade"), eight #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 (none being front-loaded debuts with little longevity), 5 UK #1s, and six Diamond-certified singles by the RIAA. And that's keeping in mind he only has four studio albums - less than half of both Taylor and Beyoncé's total tally. Nick Cannon was dumb for making a statement so heavily connected to different listening audiences, but Bruno is a certified hitmaker and one of the most successful of our generation. No need to put him down to uplift Taylor and Beyoncé - their accolades speak for themselves as well. All of this. 1
