Is this Taylor’s biggest flop ever?  :deadbanana4:

She needs to release Cruel Summer already

Nah, End Game was far worse... and we'll still get a cute peak so :foxaylove2:

A #3 peaking third single fueled by a controversy, major Spotify push and now even autoplay :skull:

I’d say Ready For It was the worst. End Game and The Man were victims of unfortunate timing. I’m not sure what they were thinking releasing EG when Ed’s “Perfect” was at its peak. Delicate should have been the 3rd single, and EG probably would have been positioned better as the 4th single, following the success of Delicate and with Perfect on the decline. The Man was an unfortunate victim of the pandemic, but you could argue it was a throwaway single.

But there really isn’t any obvious reason why RFI flopped. Taking circumstances into consideration, RFI should have performed better than it did.

Some third singles couldn’t even chart with a whole ass short film and a VMA performance :rip:

…Or I’m pointing to the fact that they were trying to imply something with “sHoRt fIlM???”  :deadbanana4:

It’s a Gaga MV with the standard length of a MV, not some 15-minute cinematographic play by play :priceless:

Your fellow Swiftie was clearly trying to make this MV out to be something more than it was. Otherwise why emphasize “short film?” Please explain that lol because I fail to see how this is a self-drag

I mean you can ask any of us about how we were disappointed it wasn’t something 10 minutes long when it was released! The marketing suggested something different and instead we got a regular MV.

RFI came out only a week after LWYMMD, while LWYMMD was still #1

So she engaged in dishonest marketing techniques? :sherlock:

I literally could not care less btw. The point is a Liddo tried to get cute (like that member always does), with no legs to stand on.

Swifties were saying the same thing about Die For You and it went number 1 :rip:

What third single are you talking about? Has that song been serviced to US radio? Has its been promoted on major Spotify/AM playlists?

If by any chance your are talking about 911, a song that was only released in Italy as a single, guess that gives me the right to say that Taylor's discography is full of flop singles using that logic :)

The remix never made it on TTH :rip:

And the controversy of Ice Spice and her boyfriend or what? :rip: As if that was helping at all with the numbers

Yeah guess so. Even weirder than the AOTGYLB one.

I know Spotify said you can pay for that, but very clearly not always. A lot of songs by big names just get on there after a week.

And there surely are different degrees to it. Its not getting a crazy amount of autoplay

You don't have to pay directly for autoplay. You need to let go of a % of royalties for it to be on it so that Spotify has the incentive to push these songs more than the others where they have to pay more royalties. The pitch deck for this was centered on Dua's Spotify growth and has been developed from the early TTH arrangement that labels had with Spotify.

Totally irrelevant distinction, but sure.

Do we know that every song that receives any sort of autoplay has lower royalties?

I think there absolutely are some that still get an organic push

Anti-Hero was the correct lead single. She should have followed that up with midnight rain for the winter and then released Lavender Haze as the summer song she’s trying to get

I like Karma but can see why it doesn’t click with the GP
