Shareholders got rid of Iger for the initial backlash against Disney then brought him back when they realized the backlash to the backlash was worse. I thought they got rid of Chapek because the DeSantis feud started under his watch and because movies produced under him, like Lightyear and Strange World, didn’t perform very well.
spree Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 Target was never really an ally, or anyone else who pulled back. Being an ally is not a comfortable position. It was all about the money.
robattack332 Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 On a brighter note, I've never seen any type of pride merch that is stylish so....at least people will be better dressed
xDiamondx Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 End result of corporate being "pretend Ally" of the LGBT. They'll abandon anyone at a drop of a hat... or drop of revenue.

It was both. Iger left to avoid being thrown out - he had a lot of allies and enemies, as did Chapek, but Chapek had more enemies within Disney, even before he started - the allies just happened to be louder. Chapek wasn’t able to balance the warring factions like Iger that wanted different relationships with DeSantis, who was itching for a fight to get through the presidential primary, so some of this comes down to bad timing too.
Outlaws Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 It's getting bad for us, and we're doing nothing to fight them
Haburo Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 It is worse for them to do something then undo it rather than to just not have done it in the first place.
