I'm JAVIng Fun Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Me! is a better song than Look What You Made Me Do. Both are her worst leads through 5 2
blackoutbaby Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Just because you don’t like an artist personally, doesn’t mean they’re “over.” Stans have a bad habit of calling anyone they dislike over, despite all the statistics saying otherwise (ie. Nicki haters) It’s weird af how 99% of the artists ATRL and stan twitter claims are local happen to be black women. 5 1

I guess I relate more to the feeling of being lost and searching for meaning, when youth is passing over and life seems sometimes pointless than I do to the shimmering hedonism of Melodrama. It's the feeling of beginning to really know yourself, but not being there yet. I think this melancholy and desire for a revolution is the very core of those tracks, under the surface of the happy beach album (rare and precious moments of epiphanic euphoria) and it's such a fascinating contrast. But from a more objective point of view I also think that with Solar Power Lorde has mastered her melodic game and reached new highs. The Path, SATNS, Fallen Fruit and Oceanic Feeling (the first and the last being her first completely self-written songs!) are her best material yet. I love the subdued sound, with the icy guitar that seems to come from some distant place in time and space and the sparse psychedelic flickerings, her whispering vocals.
prézli Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Sean Paul is the best rapper of all time. His chemistry with female singers is UNMATCHED.

CBC Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Game of Thrones (tv series) is overrated af. It has some incredible episodes/moments but overall it's not the masterpiece people make it out to be 3

KatyPrismSpirit Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Plastic Hearts and Angels Like You deserved Grammys in the rock category. The only reason she didn't get nominated is misogyny 2
P.O.P Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 (edited) Can't stand Micheal Jackson's shrill ass vocals and random voices he made. Also, he didn't really reinvented himself/ his music. Any random pop girl is better than him in that regard. Edited May 21, 2023 by P.O.P 4
confide in me Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 OK my turn Blackout isn't Britney's best album 2 1
FightDragonsWithMe Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Britneys going to be remembered for her trauma/what she went through & not her music. 6 1
bigboss Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Bad Mode was the best album of 2022. #StopAsianHate 2
Aethereal Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 (edited) Britney's impact and iconic performances are substantially overrated. Most of her sales come from her 2 first albums both of which are very relatable and uncontroversial to white girls, similarly like Taylor Swift. Her actual 'fascinating' image had average MPG success for 2003 standards. Edited May 22, 2023 by Aristotle 2 1
brooklyndaddy Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 The shorter pop song trend isn’t the worst thing ever because often I’d skip the boring radio fodder after 1:45 in anyway
Aethereal Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Born to Die radical difference in terms of success, impact, longevity and iconicness in comparison to other Lana's albums is deserved. 1
Headlock Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Pure-pop music is the hardest genre to write songs for. Being able to craft insanely catchy hooks with sing-along lyrics that can be both specific and universal simultaneously, all compacted into a 3 min song, takes far more skill and talent than people give it credit for. Carly Rae Jepsen deserves the equivalent success that Taylor has and Emotion deserved the same success that 1989 had, and the pop landscape would not be the same currently without Emotion.

The real crime was Lorde missing a nomination in BNA, since she obviously had enough general field voter support to beat Macklemore in SOTY, so she would have had a good chance of beating him in BNA too. 2
Kayseri Mantisi Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Solar Power (album) is good and the hate it gets from ATRL gays is so forced. 1 1
