Honestly i would rather want her to release EPs and putting out new music constantly under a limited budget than going through that atrocious album cycle again :deadbanana2:

I'm ok if KP2 drops in 2026 if we get 3-4 EPs/mini-eras in between :lakitu:

i think yall forget she is already 30 (31 next month*)...

shes not a fresh faced 21 year old pop girlie so dont think shes gonna wait like 2-3 years between albums when she is already fighting the inevitable agism thats gonna creep up on her. she needs to keep up constant releases and momentum bc although other popstars like Lizzo and Rina are also in their 30s, their whole image is anti the norm, whereas Kim leans into the youthful, glossy, sex-driven archetype of ur typical pop girl. she should give us frequent releases bc we know she has plenty of material and her window of opportunity to embody and succeed as this time of pop star is not gonna be open for long..

Yeah but unfortunately this is not up to her anymore :gaycat7:

Pretty sure if it was up to her Problématique would've been released last year along with Slvt Pop and then for 2023 she would be releasing TOTL 3 and a new album later next year, but it is what it is

is anyone else kinda over the album already?

it just feels so disposable, the songs are good but i feel like they lack personality. also there are some absolute duds that shouldn’t have made this project at all

i only use hiftb minute and revelations as of now

I'm not over it, but I almost wish Kim had more time with this album... It feels very rushed and Frankensteined despite being delayed several times. The success of Unholy really hindered this album. The highs of this album for me are the songs that are rooted in that darker pop sound - Hit It From The Back, Feed The Beast, Minute, Claws, and King of Hearts. I absolutely love uhoh and Revelations and can find Coconuts and Sex Talk semi-fun, but they don't fit the imagery or vibe of the album and stick out like sore thumbs to me.

I'm def not over it, if anything i'm starting to appreciate what i disliked at first. There was just.. no surprise factor since we got everything of the album through leaks, demos and snippets sans ONE song :rip:

I kinda wish there was no Problématique songs (Coconuts doesn't belong to this album, Revelations is cute but i could live without it on streaming platforms, Sex Talk is a disposable filler and HIFTB was useless for me since i still stream the 3:01 version and not the short ass one) + more room should've been left for new songs, but sooner or later we'll get the outtakes as always

i want Dirty Things finalized and on streaming so badly

that song has the potential to be pop perfection

I don’t hate this project but even without the “inside” knowledge we have as pop stans, you can tell there are songs from all over the place on here. Were HIFTB and Revelations ever TOTL songs? They don’t have the lyrics for it really but the production and her delivery is very TOTL for me.

I like the fan stand outs like Uh oh, Claws, and KOH but they are pretty faceless and by the numbers at this point. Minute is probably the best song

Not saying it’s a good song but I actually love Sex Talk  it’s luke when he’s in his classic pop perfection bag

When you put it this way… She should try to release the next album ASAP or switch up the image.. or do whatever she wants as an artist but yes, the clock is ticking. Slayyyter is in the same niche but has more time on her side and doing things correctly without a major label pressure

Pretty sure if it was up to her Problématique would've been released last year along with Slvt Pop and then for 2023 she would be releasing TOTL 3 and a new album later next year, but it is what it is

I feel like she was initially aiming for a 2021 release, with the original album pitch (Problematique 1.0). But after FSN flopped, it seemed like Republic requested her to revamp the album a bit in the  Fall of 2021. This is probably when Coconuts was tacked on, Keep It & Runway Walk etc. were created, TMLAS & Throat Goat made for the deluxe, and she was probably now looking at a release in the first half of 2022 (Problematique 2.0).

Then it seems like she had this impulsive idea to create S*** Pop, after seeing the success of songs by Ayesha & Cupcakke, and probably convinced Republic it would be a huge success. And I remember her saying at this point in time the album would be out in the Summer of 2022, which probably would've been Problematique 3.0, where a couple more 'hit singles' were birthed & added onto the project.

But obviously, all the Dr. Luke controversy peaked with the release of SP, & in my mind, this is probably when Republic impeded her work with Luke. And Candy was put together as another impulsive proposition (as I'm pretty sure Luke didn't do those songs?), just so she could get an album out in 2022.

But it seems like Republic weren't interested in the project at all. And were happy to set up sessions with bigger producers to help create the album we have today.

This is just my personal timeline of events. If anyone thinks things happened in a different way, please tell me as I'd love to know more.

no matter from what angle youre looking at it the release of this album is bittersweet and at the end of the day a mess. scrapping an album only to recycle 4 tracks off of it on a new album that has 14 slots is insane and stupid, the twitter breakdown and the album being in limbo fiasco giving away the fact that republic doesn't have the first clue in the world as to how to handle kim petras as one of their artists, the absolute garbage that if jesus was a rockstar is being released after unholy (a song that was a MIRACLE, a #1 and a grammy win). nothing makes sense and she seems tired and over it. theres no satisfaction. the rollout was awful. everything leaking was unserious as hell. all in all, i stand with what i said from day one: signing a major label deal was a horrible mistake on her end

you're right and you should say it. the uninspired songs on this project really bring it down

Either way it was lose lose situation for her… cause she was getting lashings + criticism every day for having Dr Luke on all her songs. Now w a label she lost control of releases but now has access to more producers so Idk what’s worse

shes aiming for a mainstream career which god love her, is unrealistic. the label budget isn't showing at all, this is the cheapest her music has ever sounded, the music videos haven't been better at all than the era 1 ones and the music doesn't compare to her past work. so im not sure what she's really gained from this so far

I can tell this is gonna age terribly :rip: it's not D&D, let's be real.

Hit It From The Back and Claws are the only songs I could see surviving past September

Posted

The album doesn't hold the magic of Era 1 / Clarity / TOTL but it's still a cohesive body of work & serves its purpose.

I just wish they'd stop labeling it her proper debut album, because it's not.

Revelations is kinda the weakest song. A bop but its missing a final punch, its just sooo short

Please let the singles go like this -

1. Alone (2.0 would have done better)

2. King of Hearts

3. Claws

4. Castle In The Sky
