All of my friends that I introduced the album loved it too :clap3:

She might not have the pretentious critics on her side this time around but the public seems to enjoy it and this is what matters the most

The way Hit It From The Back has become my new fave.

Same. I figured when it dropped officially I’d be over it but it’s so good :WAP:

Who cares about critical acclaim for Kim? She’s writing mostly about sex and escapism and is making fun, gay dance-pop. It’s not like she’s aiming for critical success. The album will be a gay classic and it’ll be played in gay clubs forever, which I’m sure means more to Kim than some washed up middle aged white prune not “getting it” :bam:

I think the album will debut with around 3.5m on Spotify. Hoping for more though  :bird:

Are they out already?

This album is great, solid pop music from beginning to end. I love it :jamming:

I like Bait but what was the point? It’s clearly one of Banks throwaways, sounds nothing like the album and Kim is barely on it :rip:

actually kim herself would disagree :toofunny3:

I felt like I was very boxed into, ‘Oh, you’re a gay club artist, and you will have an underground niche fan base.’ That’s the kind of stuff that early labels told me, which is why I never signed,” Kim Petras says.
“It made me feel embarrassed for wanting to do music to the fullest level, to do real big pop music. It made me feel, for a second, that I didn’t belong there. I thought it was kind of vain and stupid for me to want to make big radio hits and things like that, and it’s not, and that’s what I’ve always really wanted, so that’s what [the album] means.

I mean sure, if you’re entirely incapable of detecting nuance within a statement :rip: Kim was clearly expressing how she’s felt judged in the past for wanting to make care-free dance music because many people (and… critics) find it to be shallow and non-profound. Many people feel because she’s openly trans that her music should lyrically reflect some impactful reference to her tribulations. If she didn’t care about making fun, gay music, she wouldn’t keep making it. I’m sure she doesn’t wanna be boxed into only a “gay club artist”, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want her music to be worshiped and beloved by gay clubs and communities. She’s said endlessly that her love for music began in gay clubs, gorl.

Anyway, you’re a Kesha stan so I can’t tell if you’re in here trolling or actually a fan :bam:

Her wearing the Fergie t-shirt at the Today Show was honestly iconic, I love her mind when she references pop culture this well.

This is one of the best albums this year.  The only song I don’t like is sex talk. The rest is so good.

Fun fact: I'm enjoying Bait way more now but the fact that Banks sings more than Kim kinda annoys me

Should serve as a cute interlude on tour though

Kim has always been a massive trendhopper even in her independent days. She’s trying to balance not destroying her niche with achieving mainstream success and being lauded on a “higher level” but it’s clear she (and her team, given the other interview that was posted the other day) want the latter much more - hence why she signed with Republic despite succeeding on her own, and it has NEVER worked outside of Unholy. It’s just easier to pin this kind of stuff on a greater less palpable entity such as “the evil label.”

Obviously she continues to have her fanbase in mind so she doesn’t lose her career entirely but your implication from the first post was that it was primarily for them to begin with, and her music was *more* well-liked before by both critics and audiences so your new point is moot as well. She’s also lashed Pitchfork in the past year(?) so clearly their opinion somewhat matters to her :rip: hell she’s been on numerous Twitter meltdowns over the thoughts of just a few haters, again within the past year

The album is possibly the biggest critical and commercial failure of the year given what was put into creating it, which is funny considering what her stans were saying about Gag Order just a month ago  I still enjoy it though! Uhoh is one of her best songs
