Genius1111 Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 BBC What are the early results showing? We are hearing different things from different news agencies. State news agency Anadolu (AA) puts President Erdogan ahead on 52.4%, and opposition candidate Kilicdaroglu on 41.7%, based on almost 44% of the votes counted. However, Anka, a privately owned news agency, which is known to be closer to the opposition, puts Kilicdaroglu ahead on 47.4%, with Erdogan on 46.8% based on 31.3% of the votes counted. With both agencies, Erdogan started with almost 60% of the votes, and as more votes have been counted, we have seen his lead narrow. As we’ve already been telling you, in previous years Erdogan’s strongholds have tended to release their results earlier than the opposition areas.

spiritboy Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Erdogan getting more votes in Earthquake shattered cities is unbelievable.
Zaram Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 The people get what they vote for. If a huge mismanagement during the earthquake and the huge Inflation doesn't change the people's mind then it's their own fault.
Genius1111 Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 Guardian More than 50% of votes counted More than half the votes have now been counted in Turkey’s presidential election and the gap between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his chief rival, opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, continues to narrow. According to the Anadolu state news agency, which the opposition has accused of deliberately releasing results to show the outgoing president ahead, the count with nearly 53% of votes tallied stands at: Erdoğan : 51.8% Kılıçdaroğlu : 42.3% Ogan: 5.3% The privately owned Anka news agency, however, has Kılıçdaroğlu already ahead with slighty less of the vote tallied. His CHP party has said their candidate is leading according to its data, and is on course to clear the 50% threshold to avoid a runoff and be declared president on Sunday night. ___________ Omer Celik, a spokesperson for Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s ruling AKP party, has accused opposition leaders of “an attempt to assassinate the national will” by claiming the Anadolu state news agency is distorting the results (see 18.03 BST). “Even before the results are finalised, all of a sudden the opposition alliance’s spokesperson and mayors appear on TV. As usual, they began to say that Anadolu Agency is manipulating data,” Celik said.

Kurds are not voting for Erdogan. Turkey is basically doing what its sister-nation Azerbaijan does every ‘election’. Turkey is a dictatorship, a NATO-enabled dictatorship, but still a dictatorship.
HardBambi Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Oh no it looks like evil is winning again! I’m hoping for a twist!

Bloodflowers. Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 My heart goes out to the Turkish LGBT people. Whatever happens, I hope they are safe and okay.

hallucinate Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 oh and they are also trying to object the ballot boxes that the opposition is leading (they literally came prepared with their files before the voting even started )

Self called free speech warrior thinks that free speech is equal with blocking minorities, but at the same time he's complying with authoritarian governments. A ******* disgusting hypocritical ****.
