I remember in the 2018 preseason when this was pretty much universally loved I don't find it weird at all, its just like how people look back at whatever trend from idk, 2010, and are like wow that's so cringe wtf was going on back then! Some stuff ages, some other stands the test of time due to the professionalism and sleekness, like Fuego

Ofc I don't think it deserved to win over Fuego but that doesn't change the fact that Toy is still a good song. I find it hilarious that the people in the quotes/replies to this are the same ones that voted for it in 2018 1 1
Eric. Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Eleni's jury result was such a crime. Specially when Sweden came second.

I fully believe Israhell paid off some jurors because there were several instances of a single juror placing Fuego dead last, thus pushing it right of top 10. I think that was also before the expontetial point system for the juries was introduced.

This was Eurovision ready and it was a great sequel to In Corpore Sano. Top 10 on lock! Performance is done so well, camerawork production everything and the song is a bop, a grower tho.

elvenOCEAN Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 (edited) Super unpopular opinion among the fandom, but somebody has to air it: Fuego was so astonishingly basic. The dancing was also rather basic. Nothing we haven't seen 100 times before. (I mean just compare it with Chanel's performance. ) Eleni was quite charismatic though, I'll give y'all that. Toy at least had some spice. Its release was also timely. Edited May 18, 2024 by elvenOCEAN 1

Dante Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Fuego kinda aged like Milk, not saying that Toy didn't, it never clicked with me, but I still think Fuego should have won.

Pendulum Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Toy was a 3-minute masterclass in onomatoepiac camp avant-garde music concrète feminist-electro-pop with a Middle Eastern flare. It's unfortunate she's from THAT place but I cannot make the music not bop. 2
Pendulum Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 meanwhile Eleni is serving lyrics like this Met a boy in Ibiza But the boy he was a cheater I think this one is a keeper Cool like Cola in the freezer Iru Khechanovi school of English with Jerry Heil as the teacher 1

I can also pull up random lyrics from Netta's discography and make fun of her Hey you Do you think you got game? You Nunchuckin' like Bruce Lee Better write this down, 978-978-9 Inc Gonna make you brand new Come closer, boy Bolepo bolepo bolepo bo Bolepo bolepo bo 1
ZIVERT Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Toy was the favorite to win from the minute it was released, and the entire fandom wrote Eleni off until her rehearsal. Both are icons, but let's stop rewriting history acting like Netta robbed anyone... Facts are facts! 1
Danai G Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Very random but Tommy Cash, a very famous Estonian rapper has said that he is considering participating in Eesti Laul next year. Omg, it would be so camp, I cannot wait for Eurofans to discover him 😂 Also, I watched the Eden Golan video, with every passing Israhell video, I just want to get a shotgun, kill everyone who were responsible for Joost's disqualification and then myself.

He collabed with Kaarija on its crazy its party no?
Danai G Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 I think that some "joke" or "gimmick" entries in Eurovision will age poorly or good. Dancing Lasha Tumbai, Run Away or even Dustin remain iconic. Toy due to the circumstances surrounding Israel and the context in general, hasn't aged that good tbh. I am curious to see if Cha Cha Cha will remain iconic or age badly. For now, I think it's good.
