A combination of these two :duck:

These and probably Channel Orange. Something happened online during 2011-12

Pop female albums only: Born To Die (indie pop), Teenage Dream (bubblegum "pure" pop), Beyonce self-titled (Friday releases/visual album), Born This Way (visuals and sound inspired some b-list singers i think) and 1989 (max martin)

There's probably more, but those were the ones that came to my head.

I wanted to add Frank but I think his impact was a bit more understated. The other two are clearer. **** it, I'm gonna edit my post :gaycat3:

Born to Die is the most impactful album of this century, let alone the 2010s

The fact that there are artists that are pulling from any combination of these 3 to this day really speaks to their impact.

taking into account all the different types of impact (such as popularity, acclaim, influence, cultural presence, etc.) these are the Big 5 in no particular order imo:

Not the only ones, but absolutely two of the most impactful by far.

It’s probably cliché, but I would argue 21. The numbers are the numbers, but 21 truly did shift the music industry from EDM domination. I don’t think we would get to alt-pop, alt-R&B or music focusing on introspection and lyricism to the large degree that we did post 2012.
