There are so many examples of pop girls being completely dropped by their female fanbase and having to rely solely on the gays. 

Madonna

She’s a legacy act so it doesn’t really matter, but since MDNA only gay guys listen to her work.

 

Janet

Probably the biggest example, the gays never stopped supporting her. 

 

Mariah

She had a huge female fanbase in the 90’s and 00’s but they got tired of her and dropped her completely, and now only gay guys listen to her new work.

 

Britney / Xtina

Literally only gay guys listened to their last albums 

 

Katy

She also had a significant female fanbase in the early 10’s but they pretend she doesn’t exist anymore while her gay fans never left.

Gaga

Gaga kinda chose this herself in the Born This Way era, but she gained a BIG female audience after the ASIB era, but none of them listened to Chromatica, only her gay fans. 
 

Nicki

No explanation needed, her audience is 99% gay guys at this point. 

Miley

Flowers got the girls in a chokehold, but none of them listened to the album only the gays.

This could also totally happen to other girls like Beyoncé, Shakira, Rihanna, Dua, Ariana if their female fanbases get tired of them. Why are the gays so loyal to their favorite female artists?

Not every female artist tries to appeal to the gays.

 

I would think their #1 target demographic is women, then the gay men if that fits their brand

They're not, they really switch fast. 

Straight men are more loyals since those rock bands and metal bands can take number ones albums for 40 years (at least until streaming era didn't became a thing and the most sellind pure album of the week can debut only at number 8).

It wasn’t the gays that dropped them, it was their female fans. I mean who listened to Chromatica besides gay men?

The gays did not drop Gaga. If anything, they're the only ones who stuck by her during the ARTPOP debacle.

 

And they never really dropped Katy either. The stan world is the only place that's still (somewhat) looking forward to a Katy Perry comeback.

We are talking about female artists tho. But rock fans are truly unbeatable (female or male)

So? You can stick by an artist and still dislike some of their material. At least they're still checking for new material. The reason str8 people didn't hate Smile like the gays did is because they never listened to it to begin with.

What surprises me is the fact gay men NEVER drop their faves even when they’re at their lowest point or becoming legacy acts or just irrelevant. Madonna and Britney albums are still events here when no one outside cares. It’s insane loyalty  and I’m not even talking about the alternative girls.

The gays were actually among the few people that stood by Gaga during her dark years (2013-2016), I don't think she would've gone this far without their support.

 

And Katy never appealed to gay ppl like that.

my female straight friends are actually very rap, reggaeton oriented, their go to are it girls like Dua, Karol G or Rosalia but not Gaga, Katy or Britney or other niché pop girls

Concerts are kinda different tho so I’m not surprised, a lot of girls go see their favorite female artists for a throwback but they only know their older hits while the gays know even the most irrelevant album track.
