That's because critics often hold back when it comes to pop girls acting in films. Taylor Swift received some praise for her role in cats and guess what? No one cares. Still a panned performance in an even more panned movie

I? I'm not stanning anything in this film; it's simply terrible in every possible way. We're just pointing out that the hype around these pop girls doesn't always translate into quality performances. It's hard to ignore when their contributions often prioritize star power over ACTUAL talent.

Taylor was solid in the film though.

 

Gaga alongside the techs are the only things in the film recieving praise. If anything, she's seen as being unscathed whereas Todd is going into Directors jail and Joaquin is in SOS mode.

Honestly, I can't tell if she was good in that film or if the critics were just trying to find something positive to say about that terrible movie. It feels like they had to give her credit because they didn't want to ignore the star power, even if the performance itself was nothing special
