I purely do it to collect my favorite albums and my favorite artists' full discographies (and only colored vinyl). Nothing to do with trends or value.

I've been collecting them since I was 12 because they're stunning. I barely ever use my player because I don't want to damage the discs. BUT. it wasn't as mainstream and for anyone who's been collecting for a longer time, it kind of got ruined. Rarities that were such a joy to stumble upon started getting reprinted by everyone and their mama in every color in existence for $25 and you see every other gay have a collector instagram account with no record player in sight. It's weird and supersaturated

I don't collect vinyl, but my grandfather does, and he told me that vinyls produced these days are made so shabbily that they could damage the stylus
Not sure if there's any truth to that though
