It is doing better in US than Aladdin or The Jungle Book first week which is amazing considering the backflash it received.

It is an absolute disastrous bomb in Japan and China :dancehall: I feel bad for Halle for getting caught up in all of this

People talking like it's the end of the world as if they didn't know the real reason! :biblio:

I went to see what they did with the Black Panther poster and...

Super Mario sold more pre-sale tickets than Beauty and the Beast in South Korea despite the total box office being totally in favor of the later movie. I think using those ticket pre-sales for prediction is not good strategy.

Can we wait till the movie actually releases and see its actual numbers before making gross generalizations and attacking East Asians in general? :biblio:

As people already said Hollywood movies in general are not doing as well as they did pre-pandemic in East Asia

In Japan it's even a miracle that Super Mario is doing well, Avatar 2 for example completely bombed there

Super Mario also underperformed in China and South Korea

Did East Asia even embrace Mulan in streaming at least? Idk the numbers

Japan and South Korea LOVED and stanned Aladdin feat. POC leads (not just Will Smith)

In China, movies with POC leads like Bollywood movies (Westerners wouldn't touch these), Coco, Black Panther (outgrossed every single Disney live action remake except Lion King) smashed

So again, let's stop the gross generalizations and grouping ALL East Asians into some kind of hive mind

I think it’ll do around 600M - 700M Between the “controversies”, the movie generally looking bad, and people getting tired of lazy Disney films, it won’t hit 1B.

The older prediction for TLM in China was $3.1M, now it has fallen down significantly more. This will be the least successful remake in China for sure.

For Korea there is still nothing but speculation.

Pre ticket sales in Korea are completely meaningless.

Many Asians especially East Asians are undeniably colorists but I still think it has to do with the movie itself. Blank Panther for example, idk the gross in Asia but it's very popular here.

It's part colourism, but also the trailer is quite bad tbh

Undeniably awful numbers in Asia but I think it’ll do a lot better in other countries upon release.

Nope!

The way now suddenly ATRL cares about Asia. But they always discredit Asian acts :coffee:

anyway it’s smashing in the US. Halle is here to stay.
