Don’t they always tend to under predict big blockbusters? I remember these were the same numbers predicted for Mario.

If they had stuck to what Ariel looks like, this would be massive. However, she isn't Ariel to me like she just doesn't give me the Ariel vibe AT ALL. I hope it does well for POC though and I love that little girls can see an Ariel that looks like them, so I hope it does good. I won't be seeing it though. It doesn't look good to me. I'll watch it when it's free on Disney+

Also Melissa McCarthy looks terrible as Ursula :rip:

Why is it always the Britney stans who make these kind of takes…

It's the Disney live action film I was the most excited to see happen someday since Ursula is my #1 favorite movie villain.

But I won't be watching in theatres thanks to the Melissa McCarthy casting. If it flops, blame her :)

guess that settles it. More proof that the internet ain’t reality

As an hater of lady Gaga as actress i would Say She would have been a lot better with her (there was a rumour about It).

Melissa McCarthy from the trailer makes It look like is a SNL skit.

it's gonna depend on the rt score

It won’t, Aladdin and Lion King are both rotten.

I think a lot will depend on whether or not the movie is actually good. I’m pretty sure this is gonna be a hit, even if it doesn’t reach Lion King levels

Deserves to flop for how bad Sebastian and Flounder look. :fish2:

I sure hope it smashes Ms. Halle deserves all the flowers, I just hate how the animals look though. Flounder looks weird as hell, I hope there's more color in the actual film.

even if it underperforms in theaters I could see it doing numbers on disney+

4 days weekend with memorial day on monday.. Box office pro prediction is for 3 days weekend. So they are not that different. Goldderby prediction for 3 days should be 90M-95M.

So an opening weekend of $125M. Got it. :clap3:

Good

Disney live action remakes are ALL horrible. No one should pay for that ****

They aren’t all horrible. The Jungle Book for example is leagues better than it’s animated counterpart. Cinderella was also fantastic.

Yes, trades typically prefer to lowball on blockbusters. They err on the side of conservative predictions because they can only account for pre-sales and social conversation. They have no way of estimating walk up sales which aside from Marvel is usually what drives opening weekend ticket sales.

Like most people I never saw that, but i did see a clip from it today on twitter where someone was trying to prove how good it was and it was FRIGHTENINGLY horrible lmfao, like everyone was laughing at it... I think they're all super super bad and history will prove me right

Sadly Halle is doomed, this is gonna be shite

If you haven't seen a film, then you probably ought not to pass judgement upon it, especially an out of context clip that doesn't show the whole scene yes? That's like doing a book report on a book you never read; null and void. It's massive box office success and critical acclaim didn't come out of nowhere. Especially the latter when these live action remakes have been traditionally critically mauled.

It told a mature story that deviated from it's source material to justify a modern adaptation, features stunning mocap/traditional CGI work, a compelling lead performance from it's young star, and translated the beloved moments from the animated film without doing a shot for shot adaptation of them a la The Lion King.

I think we as a society need to take a stand against these horrible Disney live action remakes being force fed to us. I hope they all flop and I know in my heart they are all completely devoid of true art. Sorry, no personal feelings!

Overgrown Disney 'adults' swallow whatever creatively bankrupt cash grabs they churn out regardless of quality, so probably not.

As much as Disney sucks, I'm rooting for them to destroy Ron DeSantis in court and that costs money, so Disney adults, do your thing I guess.
