This is categorically false. :rip: Early critic reactions have been across the board raves. People complained about the lack of colour, only for there to be a sh*t tonne of colour in other scenes. People who have actually seen the film have been raving.

Are you being dense for comedic effect or something? :rip: Early reviews are always exaggerated and typically positive for attention. You can check any social media platform to even most recent reactions of Flounder and Sebastian’s designs and its overwhelmingly negative, among the other things I listed (and no, it’s not just ‘racists!’ trying to bring down Halle).

How long can you all keep deflecting that the movie objectively doesn’t look well made as if live action Disney remakes aren’t middling quality that’s decent at best.

TLM had no early reviews. The test screenings were positive! There is not one person who criticized.

Twitter criticizes everything if you take it seriously I'm sorry. :skull:

I never mentioned reviews, I said reactions from the test screenings. Deeply positive from everyone who saw it. I'm not interested in the collective troll responses on social media who are yelling into the void. I care about people who have actually seen the film.

Ariel being black will affect box office in many countries as we’ve all seen the backlash

If it does those numbers or more I’d consider it a success, but I am expecting it to underperform

yeah, we can completely rule out China :skull: I think it’ll do fine in US/Europe/Oceania. SA i’m on the fence. It can go either way.

? Call it reviews, screenings, reactions - couldn’t care less about verbiage technicalities. :lmao: Early whatevers barely matter since the same was said for TLK, Mario movie, etc which all end up being beyond mediocre films that only did well based on their brand.

Also, never mentioned Twitter. But you can check there, Insta, TikTok, and Youtube where it’s routinely called out how washed this film looks on top of lacking any charm from the original.

Just because you all like Halle and want to see her do well doesn’t excuse this film from being the next in line of multiple terrible remakes (with their most recent outputs widely underperforming).

It looks terrible and it has nothing to do with Ariel being a POC. I mean the entire cast looks a mess :rip:

I hope so. I'd like to see Disney losing.

Girl I won't read. I don't have the time for that!

Go buy your ticket to the movie, we have dolls, books and the soundtrack.

Of course you couldn't care less, you're more focused on willing this film into an under-performance. You focus on negative reactions on social media and completely ignore the overwhelmingly positive response. You disregard the thoughts and opinions of those who have seen the film because you want to label it a "terrible remake".

Sounds like a personal issue. But don't worry, it's not going to flop. It's going to be yet another smash and sit amongst the few incredible live action remakes. :clap3:

Sounds like wishful thinking tbh.

I predict this film will have far more walk-ups than expected and I agree with the lowballing in predictions.

Plus, we're still in April. The film doesn't debut until the end of May. That's a whole month away. It's a bit too early to be calling anything an underperformance :skull: Let's not froth at the mouth like a bunch of neckbeard incels on Reddit just yet.

Not really, name brand alone is gonna make the Disney adults go. I think it will perform better then Mulan but not as big as Aladdin

Definitely. All the Disney Renaissance live action remakes made it to a billion worldwide (except for Mulan, for obvious reasons). It's gonna be a really bad look if this one fails to do so. :giraffe:

I think it will break even like Maleficient 2 but it wont make a huge profit.

Reactions from test screenings for Babylon were talking about the best movie of the decade.

Then for critics and audience was very divisive.

Nope Cindrella did not. But it had lower budget though.

Cinderella isn't from the Disney Renaissance. That would be this line up, basically 90s Disney.

Yes, a debut under 100+ million would absolutely be a disappointment but the numbers in OP are a conservative estimate based on the reactions of weirdo racists and the disappointed "redheads" who've somehow lost their animated icon (:rip:).

That part. The GP doesn't care about jack sh*t, including overblown controversies.

I don't think it'll hit 1B, but I think it'll do very good business. 90M+ OW with good legs (3x multiplier, potentially more). That's very good considering how much the theater industry has changed.

Disney has a long way to go from their previous box office domination because of their pivot to Disney+. Waiting for a movie to be on there only takes 3 months or even less. Stupid but its their own fault :fan: if this doesn't do well a big reason is people waiting to watch it for "free".

Blockbusters like this are not having problems after pandemic. There is no excuses about the industry, It's not an original drama mid budget movie.

Yeah.

Seems they are starting to change It a little bit with the new change of the ceo, i read ant man will take more time than the recent Marvel movies.

But now you need time before people will notice movies stays on theaters more.

Guardian of galaxy 3 has a disappointing tracking too btw

If they had stuck to what Ariel looks like, this would be massive. However, she isn't Ariel to me like she just doesn't give me the Ariel vibe AT ALL. I hope it does well for POC though and I love that little girls can see an Ariel that looks like them, so I hope it does good. I won't be seeing it though. It doesn't look good to me. I'll watch it when it's free on Disney+

Also Melissa McCarthy looks terrible as Ursula :rip:

the subtle racism LOL

Halle is beyond qualified. Young, beautiful, and the voice of an absolute angel. I wonder what else she would need to make you like her...
