She confirmed on the Breakfast Club that this album will have several remixes with other artists.

Champagne Ish could really pop off if she puts Doja Cat on there

Really looking forward to this actually, the Float Coco remix is better than OG

Right, mte. I think a lot of the songs could definitely be elevated with different mixes to make them stand out more outside of the album itself. Perched to see what she comes up with. From my understanding there were more artists that were meant to be on the album but didn't make it on time.

Am I the only one who thinks the album cover is amazing?

Anyway, I listened to the album twice and it's just ok for me right now.

oh yeah a 5 year comeback for this and it being from Janelle Monae is obviously enough to put most people off who were expecting another serious project but this is her Caprisongs moment if that makes sense

!!!

a great analogy! at a certain point in people’s careers, they want to experiment and have fun with music, it should be applauded not berated and treated as some type of “sellout” moment lol

Yeah she is always putting cohesions and flow on the pedestal but on this album it makes the songs sound a bit too samey at times, we need remixes to make particular tracks stand out more. And if we are inviting other artists I need some smokey hot vocals like Channel Tres. Janelle could record some remix exclusive rap verse too

It’s kind of insulting to Caprisongs to compare the two tbh :skull:

not really? Caprisongs is an all over the place collection of songs strung together by unnecessary interludes and this is a consistent / cohesive vibe with interludes connecting the songs to one another. Both projects are a departure from their more serious predecessors and both divided fanbases as well. I enjoy both too! :michael:

Lipstick Lover end up growing on me, but this is pretty weak.

this just wasn't good at all, so disappointing from considering i loved TAA and liked the other two albums

Wow just looked at the song lengths and this is a very short album running at 30 minutes.

Champagne Sh*t reminds me a lot of Bey's TLK with a mix of Beychella. The whole album gave me Beyonce vibe actually.

I also liked The Rush, Haute, Paid in Pleasure & Only Have Eyes 42 at first listen

Know Better and A Dry red also sounded nice to me but needs more time to grow on me

Caprisongs was always marketed as a mixtape moment from Twigs and not the real successor of Magdalene. This instead is Janelle's album in five years after her AOTY-Grammy nominated album. Say what you wanna about Dirty Computer but at least it had somewhat of a concept and felt like something real. This album is just a collection of vibey tracks that are not horrible but they are going to be forgotten by the end of the month even by the people who are liking the album. :skull:

I noticed this album is well received by people with good taste. Her 2nd best album after Archandroid :alexz:

There's certainly songs on here that make it far from a dud for me, played it twice and enjoyed the album throughout. Black Sugar Beach is so lovely wish she just combined it with Champagne ****

I get what you’re saying but I mainly think it’s quality-wise insulting.  Capri is still a huge win in twigs catalogue even if it’s not her strongest release.  This is just diminishing returns after her initial sellout album disappointed.

well on the bright side this album makes Dirty Computer sound so much better :jonny5:

The more I listen the more this grows on me and I like it actually, but I still can't believe that this is an album from Janelle Monáe. Glad that she's experimenting and having fun, but I hope that the profoundness and creativity she delivered before is back for her next album.
