Exactly. The show seems to be taking itself way too seriously, which won’t work beyond mindless trauma porn of the “fallen pop star” with sex and drugs to boot. This basically looks like Showgirls with a bigger budget.

 

The show would work much more as a fully self-aware black comedy, or conversely if it went fully left field into more Lynch-ian territory.

she partied normally but she was NOT hardcore like Lindsay Lohan or other girls at the time. Also, she was mostly on redbull, meds, and alcohol but never horrible drugs like the ones they show on the trailer

Keep talking all you want. But this show slays big time. Lily is great and fragile in her role. The Weeknd isn't bad. The gays/atrl will love the popstar behind-the-scenes drama from the show.
