visions Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Swifties automatically victimising themselves The UK always kinda paid Britney dust which is sad to see, when the US had their one of their ultimate popstars, the UK was just on a different wavelength unfortunately! Those Madonna numbers are crazy, never realised she was so huge here, but she's a global icon for a reason.
La Reina Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Stripped really was that era in the UK! Made the album year-end chart there from 2002 to 2005 and the decade-end chart as well.

Mess I just realized this means Christina has an entry and not Britney Actually, BOMT has sold 1,260,000 so I should edit her in when I can.

OP is going to update the list, as BOMT is at 1.26, while DIL has sold 1.22 million copies in the UK. She has always been more of a singles artist than an album artist in the UK. For instance, she has more #1 UK singles than #1 US singles Moreover, her second million-selling effort in the UK was a compilation of her biggest single, and BOMT (single) has been the biggest pop single in the UK since 1998. Britney just smashed in a different department.
Both Sides Now Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 It’s interesting that the UK we’re buying Rih’s albums in bulk while the US weren’t. GGGB: 2 (UK) vs 2.8 (US) LOUD: 2 (UK) vs 1.8 (US) The joint slay of Ray of Light and Music
FENTY. Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Talk That Talk crossed 1m mark in 2013. It should be included in honourable mentions Rihanna global queen

Not that different to the OP. Certifications are automatic here, 1989 is still currently certified 5x Platinum less than Ray of Light (#30) which is 6x Platinum so I stand corrected either way Taylor does not have an album in the Top 30. Get over it its so funny to see them fume whenever taylor isn't included in something
ChrisTheLoner Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) Why is Baby One More Time not included? It sold 1.2M Also Greatest Hits My Prerogative sold 1M Edited April 12, 2023 by ChrisTheLoner
stevyy Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Another list, another Mariah entry. We love to see it.

I hate these things. The streaming kids do not understand the concept of these labels tactics. Physical product could go out of stock and then that was the end for that album / single... digital music has no limits. Another reason for not including these free streaming acts.
GreatestLoveofAll Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Whitney's debut hasnt moved a million in the UK yet?

The most impressive album is LOUD essentially competing with 90s albums in sales in 2010. Gaga is also very impressive but The Fame combined with The Fame Monster will always skew those numbers higher than its peers. Album sales didn’t decline that much compared to the US. I know it’s about foreign artists, but Leona selling 3.1 million with only one smash is probably the more impressive. Amy with BTB at 4 million without a smash is probably the most impressive. Loud and TFM are very impressive too. Pink also has 3 million pure sellers and her greatest hit is at 975k too. Queen of consistency @Jjang Funhouse is at 1.295m units, above teenage dream and dangerously in love Born to Die is at 1.095m too Evanescence Fallen (of that counts since Amy sings all the songs solo) is near 1.5 million. Sasha Fierce - 1,615,000 Beyoncé performing "Listen" w/ Alexandra Burke on XFactor really set her album era alight (going on to chart a whopping 9 IASF singles in the Top 75 - an unprecedented run). I couldn't imagine the carnage if "Listen" was from this album. (Her team probably should've tacked on a Studio version of the duet instead of that Billy Joel cover "Honesty" to the Platinum edition)
ninetiesceline Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 9. Celine Dion, Falling Into You - 2,375,000 11. Celine Dion, Let's Talk About Love - 2,075,000 12. Celine Dion, The Color of My Love - 2,050,000 25. Celine Dion, All the Way... A Decade of Song - 1,500,000 She really mothered so hard!
Homebrand Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Rih having 2 entries so high (whilst also selling a huge amount of singles, in a worse album sales climate) is and still up there with legendary albums from the 80s/90s is truly underrated
naval23 Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Stripped is at 2M I'm pretty sure Wow Celine wow Whitney wow Madonna all global chanteuses
