I just hope they cast the right ages this time. It was weird reading the book then my mouth dropped seeing the actors ages.

Daniel was 12 in HP1 and Harry was 11 in the book. WTF are y'all talking about???

It is about Snape, Sirius, Remus, James, Peter and Lily. They are much younger in the books. Lily and James were 21 when they died, Sirius 21 when he went to Azkaban, Snape is 31 in book 1 etc…

Also a big issue in my opinion is how will they deal with the aging of the kid actors?

If they can squeeze in 7 seasons in 7-8 years, it'll be fine of course. But a series like this will require lots of shooting time (especially since the child actors will be restricted in terms of how many hours per day they can shoot) and tons of post-production with all the effects and magic going on.

House of the Dragon and Rings Of Power, aka two recent big-budget fantasy shows, need 2 whole years for just 8-10 episodes, and with a schedule like that you'd have the kids push like 30 when they're supposed to be 17. :skull:

At this point having it be animated like ATLA would solve everybody's problems and concerns :rip:

The stories from each of Harry Potter books will become a decade-long series produced with the same epic craft, love and care this global franchise is known for. The series will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom, full of the fantastic detail, much loved characters and dramatic locations that Harry Potter fans have loved for over 25 years. Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally.

It being over the course of decade… I’m tired already lol

10 years? so we can expect a few of the books to be split in more than one season?

too soon, but what can we do, right?

10 more years of this series :deadbanana4: The books aren't even that good ffs. Imagine an entire season of episodes dedicated to stale ass Chamber of Secrets. Or the overbloated slog of Order of The Phoenix. I'm already exhausted just thinking of rehashing these stories yet again.

over 10 years i'm.... whats the point

the way this was announced exactly while im watching the prisoner of Azkaban, whew!

im excited for this but 10 years is a bit much, surely they could have fit the 7 books into 7 years by simply… extending the seasons?

unless what they’re saying is it’ll take more than a year to create each season

Way too soon. They will never live up to the original cast. Like… Helena Bonham Carter? Maggie Smith? Alan Rickman? Any cast is bound to feel like the dollar store version while 95% of the original cast is still alive and well.

However, this is progably a great way for them to rehab JKR and HP’s image a bit. They’ll shoehorn in some new POC and gay characters (or retcon some of the existing ones), and the fan base will be very hyped in general and forget about controversies.

they said "consecutively", so, every year there will be a new season.

and of course they could have had only seven seasons but w$h$y w$o$u$l$d t$h$e$y d$o t$h$a$t, r$i$g$h$t?

There’s 7 books (8 with cursed child if they do that too) so a season a year with a break in between seems fair.

huge commitment to whoever they cast tho so good luck.

great. movies are weak.

Let's hope also for new contents not even in the books.

A decade???????????????????? I'll be like 40 when the last season wraps up wtf is this

I'm so happy it is not The Cursed Child story.:hippo:

OMG. 10 years... they really want those Millennial Potterheads subs huh?

Posted

Will there be differences to the films or are they just going to repeat those storylines?

10 years makes sense if we count this year + the following 2 years to even cast and produce season 1 :eli:  still think it's too soon for a reboot but perched
