Green Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 What is Rafranz gonna do with all the copies she bought from this trash

And Billboard is to blame for this happening. They had a chance to correct this problem in early 2020, but they decided to get rid of UGC streams instead (and that inadvertently helped radio heavy songs that long peaked, as evidenced by the re-entry of songs like I Don’t Care and Sucker). The warning signs were there with HITR and Heartless going #1 in late 2019, but Billboard ignored it.
LustSpell Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 Taylor's about to lose her biggest drop from #1 record

They were so big, they stopped WAP from getting more than 4 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100. Butter and My Universe were moderate hits. Dynamite only rivaled WAP on the hot 100 because there were mass buying campaigns EVERY week. WAP was a phenomenon that broke streaming records, and the fact that Dynamite spent as much time at #1 as it did during WAP's peak just goes to show how meaningless Billboard's charts really are at representing what is actually popular.
industry baby Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 Another example of why nobody takes Billboard charts seriously
ultrablue Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 The real embarrassment this week is Ed Sheeran not debuting in the top 10. I know he's fuming right now.
MusicLoverDude Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 I really hope the stans don't turn this into another Butter situation.

Dynamite hit #1 on bb global 200 multi weeks, a chart without mass buying sales (no website sales). clearly it’s a global smash. Dynamite also debut with 34M+ streams in US, that’s alone enough for a Top 5 debut on hot 100. Dynamite also reach Top 5 on Pop Radio and a Top 10 overall Radio. both Dynamite & Butter debut at #2 (blocked by WAP & G4U both monster hits) and spent multi weeks in the top 10 on Rollingstone Chart (a chart without mass buying sales). also My Universe finaly debut #1 on Rolling Stone chart (because a weak competition) it’s clearly a HIT. Remove sales 2. Lower the weight of radio 3. Reinstate UGC streams Maybe we’ll get a chart that reflects what’s really popular (like we did pre-2020).

To be fair Dynamite was a massive bop and I remember hearing it everywhere, but I’ve never even heard WAP once.
CaliClass24 Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 Sales shouldn't be removed entirely, but 230 thousand people buying shouldn't out-impact millions of streams

ChrisTheLoner Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 Terrible Watch it pull a #1-OUT The fact it practically has no radio and only 10M streams yet the b0ts want to still defend it and act like its a "hit"
Red Velvet Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 This will keep happening because of the online engagement it gives Billboard. They said clout over integrity.
