From what I've read on this, the charge should be a misdemeanor, which would be outside the statue of limitations. But, if it's considered a felony, the statue of limitations was extended due to COVID. The NY prosecutor is using the unprotected federal charge as the additional crime to make it a felony. There is a high likelihood of a judge immediately dismissing this. They are going forward with this because the extended statue of limitations is expiring soon. I consider this poor judgement on the part of the NY prosecutor,as Trump is already using this to ramp up the " they are out to get me by any means possible" talking points. see now dat makes me mad, if any of us tried to do sumthin like dat we would be prosecuted until da end of time ... but since he was president he can get away with it hence why he never wanted his taxes to be released
Vermillion Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Welp. As expected with the new witness just added for the jury pool to hear. Whatever.
midnightdawn Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 The fact that at the same time he was threatening to lock Hillary up during the debates for her "crimes" he was doing things that will see him indicted... projection indeed.

It’s hilarious to see the same people who cheered Trump when he wanted to lock Hillary up are now accusing the DA for politically charged prosecution against trump

The Manhattan DA looked at the Trump case when he took office and discontinued it. He was then pressured into reviving it. There is a possibility the grand jury won't indict, the case is based on a very questionable application of linking a misdemeanor to another crime to turn it into a felony. Most legal observers think that even if indicted, the first judge that sees the indictment will throw it out. The only reason Trump is welcoming the "perp walk" is to use it to reinforce the image of Democrats using prosecution as persecution. This could in turn cause the Georgia prosecutor to have second thoughts on indicting Trump for election interference, probably the one crime they could actually get him on.
ClashAndBurn Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Yeah, this case is gonna flop and probably hurt all the other more legitimate cases down the pipeline.

This is the kind of "crime" that only exists or is prosecuted if someone is running for president. Powerful people pay off mistresses for their silence all the time. I have zero empathy for Tr*mp whatsoever, but this is a stinker case and the Manhattan DA knows it, which is why he's dragging his feet. Edited March 26, 2023 by PoisonPill

The Georgia case is significantly stronger, but I doubt anything will even happen there. But yeah, this is a misdemeanor and the case is weak as is. But I bet he announced this happening to fundraise and grift anyway
