Freakshowvato Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 The outro really does it for me, it's basically the same song with more dubstep and raw darker vocals compared to the original. I think Demi re-recorded only because she has a new label now. Some of the vocal sounds identical, but then some of it is clearly a completely new take. I do agree the mastering/production is not fully mixed properly, idk if that was intentional to make it more grungy sounding?

Gavin. Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I’ve never loved the song and this didn’t make me like it any more wish it was more than just pretty much adding guitars. Would have loved for maybe some of the melodies to be different or something. Or maybe her singing wayyy lower in some parts (specifically the bridge maybe? Before that final high note at the end of it, that can stay. It works in my mind at least but who knows if it’d actually sound good tho ) I will say good for her for it sounding pretty much exactly the same with re-recorded vocals Will be waiting for Holy **** 2.0 tho
northwest Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 This is good, she should rerecord more song into rock
Pink Ranger Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Me just thinking how hard Neon Lights could be manifest it and it shall come to pass
loveisdead9582 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 What is up with the mastering? I just tried to listen to it on Spotify and it doesn’t sound nearly as good as it does elsewhere
popstyle Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 i thought she would never sing this song again after she had a heart attack?

Freakshowvato Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Ok but this did numbers on social media, honestly I need Cool for the Summer and Sorry Not Sorry next. The thing with Heart Attack and Cool for the Summer (even Confident), is they are already on the lite rock side, so it's just a matter of amping it up a little. But the rock versions are not gonna be significantly different, it's just nice to hear an updated vocal take and damn Demi really delivered vocally, almost sounding exactly like the original but somewhat darker. Sorry Not Sorry, Give Your Heart A Break, Body Say would be the most interesting to undergo rock transformation because they are more R&B leaning. And Neon Lights is EDM, so it's interesting to hear a more rock take as well. d
Negev Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I like it but wish she'd kept the more stripped down bridge into instrumental break before the final chorus, like her live version. The live version still wins me over this
ATRL Moderator kelly-clarkson Posted March 25, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted March 25, 2023 Demi did THAT loved the new version
