Oh please, he should have several seats.

More actors should call out shitty writing and plot points rather than just collecting a cheque.

I think Jenna is great as Wednesday but the show is basically and overrated. Just because something trends doesn't make it good.

Jenna didn't lie. She saved her show from being the next Riverdale.

I just HAD to see the work of this clown and YEP, exactly the type of content creator that would be triggered by her statements.

Actresses who speak out are aways maligned, it's why women are aways at the bottom for pay and good roles and casting. The men and it is men who run the show are always serving up out of touch, badly written female characters and when the women who have to play their caricatures say boo or bat, they call them difficult or rude.

It's clear that from Hollywood's highly misogynist trackrecord that nothing has changed, for the public or them.

Wednesday was a trainwreck of mediocrity and the people who are satisfied with it are the same people who love marvel movies; middle of the road content with little innovation and overworked staff who are pushed to produce big effects in short time frames.

Wednesday Addams is no teen rom com, a slap to the face of fans everywhere that was. No amount of old white manning can clean that up nor will the bs posters pretending that a culture that has elevated the legendary male actors we have who did interject and change portrayals would be treated the same. No one believes y'all, try another act.

Sorry but I have to agree with the sentiment that if a man said what Jenna said it wouldn't have been an issue in the first place. That's what gets me. Jenna is supposed to play the young ingénue and not speak on the job she was vehemently sought after for and paid to do. Her input made for a better outcome and one of Netflix's most successful series. I'm sure if anyone had an issue, she wouldn't have been promoted to producer and asked to return for a second season. He needs to mind his business and focus on calling out more pressing issues happening within the television industry than coming for an actress half his age doing her job in a way he personally dislikes.

I know barely anything about this whole thing, but I feel like badmouthing the show you're in and basically belittling the intelligence of those who enjoy it, who are your core fanbase, is a little bit stupid ahd shortsighted.

the truth is that you have to be an established actor with a track record of making good creative choices to be able to say the **** that she said publicly

the ACTING is her work. the writing and story development have nothing to do with her, and shouldn't, given that she's a young new actress

1. Should an actor talk to the director if he/she doesn't like a scene or script? Yes.
2. Should an actor say the script was **** and he/she had to change it. Yes but there are better ways of saying it. She was a bit rude but I don't think it's that serious.
3. This man would have spoken on twitter if this had been said by a man. Of course not.

She's got a stank attitude going on, which won't bode well for her mainstream career, but she got a taste of doing an A24 movie, so she might prefer that. What she's not considering is that hit commercial projects like Wednesday are going to only help her get those artsy movies greenlit - like, they fired Rooney Mara from Vox Lux and replaced her with Natalie Portman because producers didn't find Rooney bankable. If I was her, I'd collect my check & producer credit and mind my business. You know that saying, you'll meet a lot of the same people on the way down that you met going up, and the film industry can be a small place.

I agree, that was so mean to insult those who enjoy the show, not to mention a lot of them are literally children. :rip: I think coming off Disney (or is it Nick she was on?) she's tired of doing YA programing. I will say it's kind of refreshing that instead of being like, "I'm a sexy adult!" now ala Miley and Lilo etc., she's rebelling in a pretentious ~artiste~ type of way. Still insufferable though.

I don't think it's wrong what she did: speaking to the writers and producers to change certain things she didn't like and ****, the issue lies in that she shouldn't have expressed that to the media because it sounds like she only did to gloat herself, like look at me, I saved the show from being an embarrassment.

The funny thing is that she'll be an executive producer for the next season and if it ends up worse than the 1st one well :rip:

People have such a skewed sense of work. She shouldn’t be open and transparent in the name of professionalism? She could say all the things she said about the show but only after enough time has passed and until then be fake about it? :skull:

It sounded like she had a collaborative experience with the writers, telling them how she felt about certain things (and apparently they agreed because some things got changed) and all because she cared about the character and the quality of the show

No wonder everyone feels dissociated from their work and has burnouts all the time with this ‘just suck it up and don’t speak your mind’ attitude

I like her but her opinions really seem out of place some times. I mean she can share her concerns behind the scenes if she's worried, but why bashing the show publicly? Seems very unprofessional and ungrateful to me. I hope she learns out of this situation, otherwise they will quickly turn their back on her.

She was unprofessional, simple as that. No end of the world doomsday.

she got promoted to executive producer for this season now so who cares

Why do I feel like her whole big era is going to be very shortlived :rip:

So she's not even allowed to have an honest opinion on her own work? Now THAT is toxic :biblio:

Being a young famous woman must be the worst. If she gave artificial canned answers in interviews she’d be ‘fake’, if she speaks openly and truthfully about how she feels she’s a ‘difficult *****’.

Exactly. This kind of criticism is only EVER adressed against women.

Now I know you’re not trying to come for a show as iconic and influential as Buffy the Vampire Slayer… :biblio:

yeah that’s why I cringe when talk about how much has cHaNg3d… like no there’s still a LOT of sexism and misogyny it’s just not as obvious now. there’s still a general feeling that women should be happy with what they’re giving and if they dare complain and express any form of discontent people have their pitchforks out

It's because she's a woman. He's trying to label her "difficult" because she stood up for herself and HER work. Nothing bad about it, and the same wouldn't have been said if a man said the same thing. What a douche.
