Armani? Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 (edited) #1 I had two minors with me (my nephew & cousin both of which are 16) #2 The manager denied us entry saying it had to be one adult per child. (It was before 6PM, after 6PM the rule is by guardian, not adult. They have 2 rules, I was just saying the guardian rule is even more discriminatory) #3 We called another adult to come up, we were granted entry and got the tickets although the manager wasnt at the register this time, but watching us #4 We were let in & get past all security. #5 The other adult leaves, we just needed them to get in, but the manager watched him leave #6 We watched the movie for about 20 minutes, the manager got the security guard and looked for row by row flashing lights at ppl till they found us #7 They kicked us out The supposed 1 adult per 1 minor rule isnt listed on the company's website terms & conditions Edited March 15, 2023 by Armani?
CrimsonX Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 NTA. this rule sounds stupid. So if I’m a single parent with 2 kids does that mean I can only bring 1?
zasderfght Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Where do you go see movies?? I live in a big metropolitan city, and none of the movie theaters here are like this. Not even in the suburbs

TheLastChord Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Seems like a dumb policy. So a parent with 2 kids can't go to the movies?

insomniac Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Check in the terms and conditions / policy for the tickets and movie theater whether what he said holds true. If it is in there, then you agreed to those terms upon buying the tickets and you should let this one go. If it’s not, then they’re definitely just buggin’ and I would try to sue them (if you live in US). The rule seems kind of weird anyway. What about single parents with two kids? They can never bring both kids to the movies at the same time?
Oktober Knight Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Wtf, like who brings proof of guardian documents to a movie theater? Sounds the manager was being overly petty.

My case is we were let in before a couple months ago without this dumb 1 per each "rule" he told us. Also it definitely doesnt apply to guardians
Opulence Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 I mean I don't think it matters that you were let in a couple of months ago, it's a rule that was just probably not enforced then but is now. I'm not saying I agree with this rule as I think it's really stupid, but it's a rule they have. It sucks you had to leave but the manager was just enforcing the rule after realizing you broke the policy to got in.

No, the manager was saying one adult per one minor since I had 2 minors with me. We had to call another adult we knew to be let in. He just bought a ticket and left after we got past security & down the hallway But the "rule" he told me is bogus anyway, there's no # limit on their terms & conditions online

Wow. Yeah the guy definitely overreacted. You didnt do anything wrong tbh, he sounds like he has too much time on his hands
XAMJ Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Here in my city its all minors under 17 must accompanied by an adult after 7pm, never heard of the 1:1 rule.

Because it doesnt exist A slim possibility he barely looked at my ID and thought I was only 17 but he really just was ******* with us He just saw a very young Black guy with 2 Black teens and didnt want to let us in cuz they have issues there as of late which caused the company to be more strict with their rules. But it's really just discriminating because that rule he said isnt listed anywhere for that company which is owned by Cinemark 8 minutes ago, Juanny said: Yeah that rule is stupid then. You should go to another theatre to be honest if they're going to be difficult with you. Yeah Im not going there anymore after this experience. There's one theater 15 minutes away in Grand Blanc without that dumb issue.

Orsay Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 It sounds like a dumb policy, ridiculous actually. They were possibly being petty and have been getting hounded about this kind of thing by their higher-ups, but there's also a good chance they were just being racist. But I'll also say that you guys blew your own cover pretty quickly by bringing in another adult only for them to immediately leave thereafter
