Hmm the only explanation I can come up with is that Flowers is highly GP-driven. The type of listeners who don't care about checking out the whole album on day 1. So these numbers are more reflective of her core fan base which is small and hasn't been the driving force behind Flowers

Miley didn't promote or hype album release like she hyped up Flowers + it's an indie album aka there are no friendly singles outside of like 3 songs, one of which is Flowers, so it won't receive any replay value cause its artistry is hard for average, casual listener to grasp. It is what it is, these are great numbers and Miley's biggest streaming debut day yet

 

 

This. Miley is perfectly content creating music and not being chart obsessed. She doesn't need commercial success to fill existential void like certain ATRL's favorites

I understand Flowers being a viral smash doesn't mean she's gonna have a smash album, but it did seem like the interest was focused on HER rather than something like abcdefu or Unholy where people only cared about song. So I thought she'll do at least 50m... but damn this is really bad.

there are a lot of k-pop acts with lot of physical sales despite of bombing on streaming.

 

So I won't be surprised if they do 115k sales and 112k are pure album sales
