we don't care, if comparing miley cyrus to harry is how you feel better about his successful male peers, bad bunny and the weeknd, stomping on him, then so be it

OT: stable :WAP:

Harry had the second most streamed album of 2022 and the most streamed song. Bad Bunny is singing his songs on Carpool Karaoke and going to his shows and dancing. The Weeknd is seeing the project he created, produced, and stars in get torn to pieces and called a disaster in the making (and at this rate might never see the light of day), and his last album (and multiple singles), flopped to oblivion. Harry's tour washes both of theirs combined. I don't need to make myself feel better about anything when it comes to him. He literally just won AOTY, swept the Brits, and is performing in sold out stadiums worldwide.

I guess you have to deflect from my very clear point to make yourself feel better. Why did the album not affect Flowers at all? I gave you two examples of artists with viral songs that released albums in the middle of the single run and how it dramatically affected the singles' numbers, and Miley's is literally doing less streams:

And Dua Lipa wasn't a household name, barely had a fanbase, it was in the middle of a pandemic with Spotify numbers depleting, and the song was three months older than Miley's.

But you can keep acting like this is about my fave instead of a genuine and very valid question. Deflecting, is your best bet, I guess, since you were swiftly clocked.

I did not expect to see it was doing less streams today. I'm just confused by this because it makes no logical sense. No matter how little interest there is in an album, there's no way it's making less people replay Flowers, the entire song's narrative revolves around Miley. She's KNOWN... I checked out About Damn Time and Unholy and they had the same effect as Flowers but both songs were significantly older and their albums did significantly worse. Also the songs were mostly faceless. I honestly thought the comparisons with Special and Gloria were whack but now I'm not so sure.

we don’t care, bad bunny and the weeknd’s stats both stomp him which is why you’re constantly entering miley threads and bringing up AIW unprovoked

must suck to know your fave can’t compete with the men so you have to drag miley

Who's "we" cause multiple people do care, as you can see by the other replies.

No one's stats stomp on my fave. I'll clock you about them when it's relevant to the thread which is absolutely not here, just like I clocked you with Miley's stats right before, which is why you're deflecting to self soothe.

Perhaps answer the question, to at least try to LOOK like you're remaining on topic, why is Flowers doing LESS streams than before the album came out?

PS: this is the first time I compare AIW's numbers to Flowers since either of them came out, and I also brought up EOM and DSN's numbers. I actually defended Miley from people saying Flowers was a fraud, but like I said, deflect deflect deflect.

It truly is laughable atp, you're clearly struggling. My fav is selling out stadiums worldwide, is about to have one of the biggest tours of all time, had the biggest single of 2022 and the third biggest album, won AOTY, swept the Brits, was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, and is critically acclaimed. I don't GAF if there's 1, 2, forty-seven albums that are slightly, moderately, or significantly bigger than his in this or that specific metric. I'm happy for him and his career, as he said himself, there's no "winning" music. I'm not like Swifties who need their fav to be the absolute best and biggest in every single aspect and every single metric. He's huge and successful, I'm happy for him, end of story.

I compared Flowers to AIW because of the similar circumstances (viral song that breaks records, album released in a similar timeframe after it comes out). I'm familiar with AIW's numbers for OBVIOUS reasons, so it was the stat that I had more within reach, I then added two more comparisons that also prove what I'm getting at. Because I truly am ASKING A VALID QUESTION that's related to the topic of this thread. A question you refuse to even try to answer. Because you can't in a satisfactory way. And since you can't explain it, you're coping by derailing the thread and talking about two unrelated artists, with completely unrelated stats, that have nothing to do with the conversation here.

Why is Flowers getting LESS streams than before the album came out? Can't answer? Don't quote me, cause I actually wanna talk about Miley in Miley's thread. Thanks.

If you add in the demo version it's doing roughly the same amount as before the album came out: 7,842,071 (Flowers demo is counter streams, not filtered, so slightly less) vs 7,617,437, so that doesn't really explain much. If people are checking the album out to stream the demo version, then why doesn't that impact Flowers, which should have an increase in the original version as well?

TBH, I think I'll survive without an answer. I just find it weird, but whatever.

Sorry but that has nothing to do with my point. I'm talking about the album effect on the single, this is a second version of the song. I'm just confused how the album and the song seem to be so divorced from each other.

The song is performing as if the album wasn't even dropped, doing the exact same numbers as before it was released when albums usually have a huge impact on already existing singles. And the album is performing as if Flowers didn't exist, doing very similar numbers Miley did with Plastic Hearts (a slight increase that matches the increase in overall Spotify users), when a huge single like Flowers generally makes people interested in the overall project.

I understand that she did little promo and I don't think it means that Flowers is fraudulent at all. Plenty of huge singles have gone to be in overall small projects, but it's just really surprising because most of the success of Flowers hinges on Miley herself, the "comeback" narrative and her personal story with the song/Liam Hemsworth. So I just... don't... get it. It's strange and I can't make sense of it.

It's safe to assume that the album served as a cushion for Flowers' streams, as the song was beginning to fall over the past couple of weeks. It very likely would have fallen from the #1 spot if we didn't get the album this week.

It's important to remember that Flowers is THE fastest streamed song on Spotify of all time and has been continuing to push for 2 months despite having a 100% familiarity rate for a while now - when you're at the top for so long there's no way to go but down. The song is burning quicker than AIW and EOM because it blew up harder than any song ever before. The album release is simply prolonging its peak for a little while longer.

Now, see? This is a satisfactory answer. I don't think its peaks were that much bigger than AIW, but they did seem to last a longer (slightly bigger peaks but for several more days and a steeper decline), which I think makes sense now that you mention it. It's burning out faster.  Thank you!

Hopefully it won't fall off a cliff. I quite enjoy seeing Miley be successful after so many years of struggling.
