Positions i don't remember, It definitely made worse than midnights in that, ariana smash was than you next: all tracks in the top 100 for weeks if i'm not wrong.

Future nostalgia non singles songs weren't bigger. 

Positions had all tracks in the top 30 and six tracks in the top 10 on US Apple Music on its 4th day.  Similar for Spotify US, 5 tracks in the top 10 and all tracks were in the top 30 on the 4th day.  I'm pretty sure Positions occupied the top 14 spots on Spotify US on release day and similar for Apple Music US. 

 

OT: These aren't bad numbers for Miley.  ATRL needs to manage their expectations.  Flowers had users assuming Miley was going to pull streaming numbers like Taylor and Ariana upon album release when Miley never had that type of streaming power for her albums. ATRL loves to talk about "pEaKs!11!" but the artists that remain consistent for years always end up winning in the long run (Taylor, Beyoncé, Ariana, Rihanna, etc.).  Consistency allows an artist to continue to grow their fanbases gradually through the years so when an album really smashes with the GP it results in a career re-peak.  If Miley had been consistent throughout the 2010's ESV would probably be doing a lot better, but she wasn't consistent so with that context these numbers are respectable.

It's very obvious that Flowers was a fluke and the GP couldn't care less about Miley, which is not surprising since she's not been very successful for over 10 years. This is another Unholy/Gloria situation.

People saying that promo doesn't matter is a kii. Nobody knows Miley released an album. That's what promo is supposed to do, make people aware that the album exists. She needs to get off her ass and bang a pot and a kettle or something, to make people aware of the album's existence.

 

I think releasing the album during Oscar week was definitely a choice. She should've timed it with a cute viral award ceremony where she could perform. Honestly, Miley doing BBC Live Lounge and going viral (as she usually does for her covers), could help a lot. Creating a TV special, a controversial magazine cover, anything.

 

If promo wasn't important, artists like Taylor, Adele, and Harry wouldn't promote during release week, and they all do, and they all hate it, so they're not doing it for fun.

1) Columbia created a secret fund of tens of millions dollars in order to fraudulently send Flowers to #1 in nearly every country on earth. And not just for a single week, they continued this nefarious global bribery campaign for months to keep Flowers on top of the charts in dozens of countries.

 

2) When it came to the album release, which is the end-goal of the lead single and promotion etc... Columbia suddenly decided to drop their fraud scheme and do literally nothing to inflate streams. They only cared about Flowers being a record-breaking smash, but lost interest for the album or maybe their secret bribery fund ran out?

 

3) This scheme has only been used for Flowers, otherwise we would see major label lead singles breaking Flowers' records every few weeks.
