When she was in the city I live in she had a show at a museum concert hall. Like no shade but it’s kinda like ciara coming for rihanna back in the day

Anita's tour this year, the demand:skull:

Stephanie doesnt have the generational reach unfortunately.

Anita is selling out arenas still at her age and sounds amazing. Stephanie and her horrible vibrato needs to stop.

Put Your Body In It is better than anything Anita’s done though.

Love Miss Mills but not too much on someone who's actually made decade defining music and has had substantial impact in her genre.

To begin with, the number of hits or sales someone has doesn't matter. Stephanie Dorthea Mills is an outstanding vocalist who can outperform Anita and most singers. Just because you are not aware of her career and impact does not mean that everyone else has to be. I don't know what kind of hate thread this is, but you should not disrespect Stephanie. She has achieved a lot and has a more diverse catalog than Anita. Her work spans across Broadway, disco, soul, pop, R&B, funk, and even gospel. Instead of attacking Stephanie for speaking the truth, you should consider the history and the numerous artists and celebrities who have commented on Miss Baker's behavior. Stephanie has accomplished much more than you think and continues to excel in her 5-decade-long career. Even without new music, she still headlines and sells out. She doesn't need crossover fame to succeed, and her continued success and the love she receives speak volumes. Most of y’all probably haven’t even dived into her body of work because if you did, it would be a different story. I suggest you do proper research before trying to discredit someone simply because you lack the knowledge as if resources aren't all around for you to do so, but I suppose ignorance is bliss.

Stephanie still headlines and sells out as well, she is 5 decades into her career and continues to thrive! That "horrible vibrato" has garnered her much love and more success than you will ever see, which is why she can still do what she does without mainstream backing. She performs and sangs down at such a high level, at 66 soon to be 67! You might not agree with her opinion which can be factual but you will respect her.

What do Anitas accomplishments have to do with Stephanie? They've both experienced success on different levels and ways, Stephanie has pulled crowds over 20k, and she continues to sell out and headline all the time. And at the beginning and the end of the day, Stephanie will still flat out sang and perform most under a table.

Does Stephanie Mills even tour?

Anita Baker sold out a arena in Detroit in like 20 minutes last year:skull:

Edit - Ok. I see her doing 500 - 2k venues

@bijonse @swissman

Hmm...what is this, a small arena. Look like it's been on sale a week. It's really only 6.5k tickets though

https://www.ticketmaster.com/stephanie-mills-primm-nevada-04-29-2023/event/17005E4F109B89A8

It's called organic selling, Stephanie has a ticket drawing name whether you believe it or not, and she sells out all the time if something doesn't sell out in a few minutes aka (being bought up by bots and resalers) yall start to believe someone can't sell. She's always been humble and doesn't care where she performs, she's even talked about this in an interview. She prefers to perform up close and intimate with her fans, meaning smaller venues. Remember she's an old school artist, not one of the new girls who have to perform in huge places to prove a point that still won't stand, you need to do your homework.

Stephanie needs to know her place. She is been shading people who are more famous and arguably more talented.

When has she shaded anyone? yall see stuff on the internet and run with it without doing research, she's the most supportive and humble person you could meet but she's not gonna lie to show favoritism to what you or society may find fit. And please don't get delusional and say "more talented" This woman started her career winning the Apollo six weeks in a row and did her first Broadway show at age 11.. and then at 17 played Dorothy on Broadway for five years, eight shows a week, and then went on to become and successful and loved recording artist. Please play with someone else!

does top 40 matter? shouldn't we be comparing their R&B stats

I think Anita is bigger but

Stephanie has 5 number ones to Anita's 2

Anita has classic albums, like legit classic albums in R&B history.

Stephanie has HOME, that is it and I love her!

This old ass thread getting bumped. :rip:

Anyways, I adore quite a few songs by Stephanie(and she has her classics as well) but whether you love her or hate her, Anita's music holds a special place in the Black music echelon.
