Biden would beat Trump again and Dems are on an upward trajectory based on their midterms performance.

Eh, I think Biden *could* beat Trump, though it'd again be marginal, but this is a misreading of what happened in 2022. Even if Dems were on a trajectory of overperforming in 2024 due to overperforming in 2022, 2024 is destined to end up worse than 2022 simply by nature of how worse the map is for Democrats vs 2022.

Sometimes I would like to know how the mind of a working class right voter works. It just amazes me thatthey keep continue voting and voting against their own insterests.

White supremacy, it's really that simple. They're fine remaining poor if POC remain poorer than them, therefore maintaining the "status quo" :cm:

As much White Supremacy is very real and inherently ingrained into our society, I don’t think it is what keeps them voting against their own interests.

A lot of these people see republicans and conservative politicians as their only hope of focusing on “the real issues”. They believe that social issues, climate and anything science based are fluff that appeals only to those who have nothing else to worry about. And unfortunately, religion keeps them uneducated. It’s sad, really.

Is beating blatant fascists by 10k votes in states and 1k in Congressional Districts really upward trajectory in context?

The only reason it wasnt bad was because young voters had historic turnout again

And what are those "real issues" they care about :giraffe:

Well the “real issues” are what are sold to them as being not addressed by democrats when in reality it’s republicans who are not prioritizing them.

To them, real issues are cost of living, gas prices, the fight on “wokeness” corrupting their children, religious rights, etc. As they would call them… traditional values

Yes, I know. Trust me I am NOT defending them. I am just saying, as someone with relatives who unfortunately think that way, this is how they really do see it

I didn’t say you were defending it. If you know this what they mean, why were you replying saying white supremacy isn’t the reason for their voting? That’s literally what I just reiterated and you agreed :psyduck:

I’m still baffled by how the lower/working class are in favor of trump for another term despite everything he did that hurt them during his presidency. His “tax cuts” propaganda where they all paid SLIGHTLY less taxes for a couple years when the bill was written to gradually increase them back, and have them paying MORE within a decade. :deadbanana4:

So many trumpers I know love to spout that he lowered taxes, but don’t know the entire reality of it. Even Paul Ryan dipped out after getting it passed. :rip:

This is exactly what my republican family brings up when talking about politics, and will vote for him because of it

My main point was that Biden was 10x more popular in 2020 than now, and he won not by that much over Trump.

And let’s face it, Biden presidency has been really bad. Like even if you are democrat you have to be honest. At least so far. He can still turn things around or the people who call the shots cause he is not there 100% honestly.

We’ll have to see if the popularity of the midterms transfers to Biden in 2024.

I must say that after the insurrection Trump also lost a lot of popularity. I completely forgot about that

So it’s really all up in the air imo.

Biden's presidency has not been bad in any way. You are literally living in a an entirely different delusional world ffs

I will take Trump again if it means no Desantis

Biden’s winning in either matchup with Trump or Desantis. Repubs need to go with a less radical candidate because Independents aren’t voting for either, and winning over Independents is essential to winning a general election.

As independent myself, I approve this message :gaycat2:

Thanks for backing up my point. I will admit, however, that Biden runs a danger of not motivating independents to turn out if he doesn’t run a successful campaign, as most independents aren’t enthusiastic about either candidate, so it could be possible for him to lose if he doesn’t get them to turn out.
