Although that lollipop video was seriously cringe and idk what she was thinking posting that ever, almost rvery artist has ****** up at some point and it’s just not fair for Chloe to be held to things like that forever. 
 

Anyway hoping for the best maybe this can become a cute urban radio hit

True, but the lollipop thing - which, in my view, was just her trolling, but clearly the GP didn't feel that way - represents the problem with her solo image: there's nothing to oppose the cringy moments. It's all gone downhill for her the moment she created her solo account. Hopefully, this song will give her some momentum.

And let's be honest, Chloe for sure has some gems in those 12 tracks we haven't heard yet.

this is absolutely gorgeous, definitely my second favorite track by her! 

Also not saying this with the intention to upset anyone, but I have always loved Chris Brown's music, so I am happy with his addition to the song.

Or that the album serves longevity. But yeah, its not a race. The same way Chloe x Halle never truly had that HIT but still became very relevant and grew an audience. It's not all or nothing.

For me, I think the issue is the material she's chosen to put forth for her solo debut....much of it sounds dated. 

 

Also, I'm not sure if anyone else agrees but there is something a little unpleasant about the tone of her voice.....the girl can sing, do runs and has range but the tone of her voice can be unpleasant at times. I liked her vocal delivery on Have Mercy with the rap singing. That being said, I really hope she doesn't give up and Parkwood doesn't give up on her. She is very talented and I want her to flourish cause once she connects and gets that breakout hit, she's gonna be on fire!

That's not what hapenned. CxH couldn't reunite in 2021/22 because Halle was shooting The Little Mermaid. Chloe obviously wasn't going to sit at home with nothing to do for two whole years, so trying a solo career was the logical choice.

I don't know if she is choosing it to be like this or is being forced by her label but, all of her solo singles feel super writing camp'd/industry rejects. Take a look at the writing credits vs. Ungodly Hour's. UH is just her and her sister (sometimes Chloe being sole producer credit) or max 2 other writers. All of her solo singles have had a load of producers and writers, I'm talking like +7  Is she not confident in her own work anymore?

Maybe the label isn’t tbh. After how everything performed commercially post-Have Mercy especially. Surprise did have smaller team behind it (con-produced by Scott Storch and co-written by Chloe and Feli Ferraro who wrote on the Ungodly Hour album) but it does seem like the approach to the 1st version of her album was a more collaborative one.
 

She did mention working on some songs on the album on her own though if I’m not mistaken.
