They just say “it’s all my haters!1!1” and keep falling down the same path with their yes men (in the management/close circle/fanbase) overhyping any little thing they do. This is so true. And many of them (including Chloe) can take this criticism and work. It would be for the better for most of them.

Cotton Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Although that lollipop video was seriously cringe and idk what she was thinking posting that ever, almost rvery artist has ****** up at some point and it’s just not fair for Chloe to be held to things like that forever. Anyway hoping for the best maybe this can become a cute urban radio hit
Cotton Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 At this point she just needs to drop a stellar album and pray and hope that tiktok latched onto a song. Sabrina Carpenter did the same

It's all gone downhill for her the moment she created her solo account. Hopefully, this song will give her some momentum.

They kinda leaving Chloe to rot after she generated all that buzz.

popularmoonlight Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 That does not look good Pray It Away already missed a hot 100 entry, now this might too? I really don't see how this could become a hit, even an Urban one. The CB feat just wasn't necessary at all. It did nothing for her
RihRihGirrrl Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 I liked her last song much better....this one sounds dated

SimpleKindofLife Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 I think even if Chlöe’s album flops she still has Halle to build with and can try another solo album in like 4 years

genio Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 this is absolutely gorgeous, definitely my second favorite track by her! Also not saying this with the intention to upset anyone, but I have always loved Chris Brown's music, so I am happy with his addition to the song.

It's not all or nothing.
genio Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Also this is SOOO Keyshia Cole omg I am in love

On the one hand she is immensely talented as a singer/writer/producer and as a performer has the potential to follow in Beyonce’s footsteps. But something just is not clicking. It doesn’t feel like her moment, and it should. I actually like all of the singles she’s released, but none of them, including HDIF says “I’m here”. She needs her own Crazy in Love. Everyone doesn’t have the same career trajectory though. Who knows maybe there’s a smash waiting haphazardly explode sitting on her album somewhere. I hope she at least can squeak out a Gold album certification and at least 1 undeniable hit single from this debut era and she can always come back harder next time. I really want her to connect as well....I'm not someone who has an issue with her 'sexiness' I think she has tons of sex appeal, very talented performaner, writer and producer. For me, I think the issue is the material she's chosen to put forth for her solo debut....much of it sounds dated. Also, I'm not sure if anyone else agrees but there is something a little unpleasant about the tone of her voice.....the girl can sing, do runs and has range but the tone of her voice can be unpleasant at times. I liked her vocal delivery on Have Mercy with the rap singing. That being said, I really hope she doesn't give up and Parkwood doesn't give up on her. She is very talented and I want her to flourish cause once she connects and gets that breakout hit, she's gonna be on fire! Edited February 24, 2023 by RihRihGirrrl

CxH couldn't reunite in 2021/22 because Halle was shooting The Little Mermaid. Chloe obviously wasn't going to sit at home with nothing to do for two whole years, so trying a solo career was the logical choice.

Machete Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 I don't know if she is choosing it to be like this or is being forced by her label but, all of her solo singles feel super writing camp'd/industry rejects. Take a look at the writing credits vs. Ungodly Hour's. UH is just her and her sister (sometimes Chloe being sole producer credit) or max 2 other writers. All of her solo singles have had a load of producers and writers, I'm talking like +7 Is she not confident in her own work anymore?

After how everything performed commercially post-Have Mercy especially. Surprise did have smaller team behind it (con-produced by Scott Storch and co-written by Chloe and Feli Ferraro who wrote on the Ungodly Hour album) but it does seem like the approach to the 1st version of her album was a more collaborative one. She did mention working on some songs on the album on her own though if I’m not mistaken.
Truth Teller Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 This kinda didn't come together. It's solid but hookless. The chorus sounds like a verse. I can tell why it's been sitting on Hitmaka's shelf this whole time
